  1. Ahhhhhh I see what you mean, i thought you were refering to ME as "the rekluse guy" Thanks for the info lads, i will get my auto bike yet Cheers Iain
  2. Mmmmmmmmm intelligent response You will find that not many gearboxes or engines out there are made by the manufacturer for chainsaws, mowers, cars, planes anything really. If you dig deep enough you will usually find that huge companys like kawasaki etc will actually make parts and stamp the name on em for the company. Bit like asda or m&s beans made by heinz with cheaper or more expensive ingredients but made in the same factory. Cant remeber which one but one of the big trials bike manufacturers uses the old Yamaha YZ engine blah blah blah. Anyway, these are all well kept sercrets and unless you have been around the Beta factory and actually seen them produce the engine and gearbox from scratch you can bet your ass that anyone from Hyundi to bloody John Deer will be supplying a lot of if not all of the bits. Oh and the Rekluse Guys name is Iain as mentioned on post - ignoramus So, does anyone know if its possible to fit a rekluse clutch to any trials bike? Thanks for the response in general Cheers Iain
  3. Ello all I realise that im going to come under fire for this but...................... I want to fit a rekluse clutch to my trials bike - 05 Beta 200 So, what engine is in this bike? The guy at Rekluse said that if i can tell him what engine it is he will tell me if he has one to fit! Do Beta make there own engines? As this will seem like such a messed up idea to "real" trials riders i shall try to explain my thinking for what its worth I dont ride competativly, i ride either my 250 KTM EXC ( with rekluse and left hand rear brake ) or my wee beta. We just go out into the woods / hills and have a laugh. My enjoyment of off road riding has doubled since i fitted my rekluse to the point where i no longer ride the trials bike. I have been riding for over 20 years so there is no point in telling me to persevere with the clutch, i just love the rekluse and PLEASE remember, im not competing with anyone , its just about having FUN and that at the end of the day is what bikes are all about!! So..................my options are this 1. sell the trials bike and forget it ( not good ) 2. fit a rekluse to the beta if possible 3. sell the beta and buy another brand which CAN have a rekluse fitted to it. Many thsnks to anyone who can help Iain
  4. Thanks for all the input I did a couple of events last year on a WR250 and was the slowest person by miles !! I will be slow on the trials bike but trust me.......i will be far quicker on the trials than on the enduro I have got the entry form and had previously asked the club ( Melvilles ) if it was okay and they said YEH Okay Graeme 17..................Your freakin me out now. Yes it is Pathhead and how did you know my mate had a 950 ? We are doing the Sat before it gets too churned up. How many laps are we "Sportsmen" expected to do? I know how many i will do.....1.............Im taking my flask of soup for the top of the hill Thanks again folks
  5. Hi there Anyone like to hazard a guess at how far i can travel on a 2005 Rev 3 200cc ?? I have an event coming up ( Enduro ) which i would like to take part in but no idea how far i can go ??? The course is 15miles over varied terrain. Im not going to be wringing its neck, just cruising along I thought about sneeking an extra litre into my ruck sac but im sure i would get into real trouble for that one !! I know you can get extra reserve tanks to go on the bars and even the long ride kits with seat but i want to try an enduro with the bike to see if i enjoy it before spending the cash Thanks in advance Iain
  6. Now we are talking Now...............where did you get it ??? and how much was it ?? Is that a 2 stroke ?? Thanks everybody
  7. Thanks for the input ! What does a long ride kit consist of ? Just a bigger tank ? I thought the small 2 stroke engine would not appreciate the long runs and higher/consistent revs ?? The enduros i have done here in Scotland were very muddy with lots of deep marsh etc, was not sure how the trials tyres/engine would go. Ever seen anyone fit Motocross/Enduro tyres to a trials bike ? "Yes but it needs to be a fairly technical event if you're going to shape well" Im not interested in winning, just want to have fun ( take a flask of tea and some sandwiches for picnic half way round lol ) Thanks again Iain in very wet Scotland
  8. Hi there Is it possible to do Enduro events or even hare and hounds on a trials bike ?? Is it allowed and can it be done ?? Would the miles kill the bike ?? I have recently bought an enduro and a trials bike and enjoy the long distance runs but just LOVE my trials bike. I realise that i wont be quick enough to compete but i really fancy it none the less I have a Beta 200 rev 3 and a Yamaha WR 250 2 stroke...............but quite frankly if its not possible on my wee Beta i would sell my enduro and trials bike if it could be done on a 4 stroke trials bike or..................??? any suggestions ?? Had a look at the Scorpa T ride, maybe the answer ?? You may be asking why not use the enduro for enduros ? You would think wouldnt you, honest answer......i find the size and weight of the larger bikes less fun and quite daunting. Any opinions gratefully recieved Cheers
