Long ago I think I read of a method to convert RE Crusader ignition to manual control, ie the old fashion advanced and retard lever set up. Anyone with a better memory that mine out there?
Many thanks indeed for photos, much appreciated. When I complain about how slow my computer works, our son in quick to remind me that compared with me the computer is hyper fast!
Sadly no access to a lathe. If I can find someone to do the job, how would the spoke ring be secured?
Hi Charlie
I have often wondered how the friction surface is secured to the inside of a home made hub assemble. Is it a case of freezer and oven?
Enjoy your Otter site and your engineering skills - you make it all look so simple. Perhaps when you have the time, (!!!) you could do a piece on manufacturing such a hub.
Many thanks and, yes, I have seen them. Before his death I used to correspond with Hedley John Vickery (the HJ in HJH) A real gentleman in every way. I heard of one trials HJH still in use in Wales some years ago and was wondering if any others were still 'working'. The lads I have spoken to over here in Northern Ireland all had a good word about the machines. Tommy Robb rode one to his first road race victory.
