afroash20
Hi there, Ive got the usual problem with camshaft bearing surfaces worn out with excessive movement Ive been told there are places that will machine the head to fit new bushes or bearings. Anybody know of any places? Or has anyone got a cylinder head mines the 122cc Many Thanks Ash
brian r
It might help to add your location to your profile. I'm guessing it's the one piece head? Pre 1976?

brian r
As a suggestion, I'd look at a parts breaker someplace to find a used head in good shape. Take a close look at the bearing surfaces you mention and look at the bolt that holds the top of the timing chain adjuster to make sure it's not stripped out. They can be fixed with a helicoil but make sure to grind a little extra off the helicoil if fixing. The stock helicoil will be a shade too long and want to screw out with the bolt instead of staying put. Don't let all that power get you hurt! malcra
TL125 124cc heads are hard to find in the UK (as are the cam's) and haven't seen any engines being broken of late (crappy TL's are now getting GBP 400-500). You could look at getting an SL,XL or CG head, but the cam profiles are different. Keep an eye out on ebay and some of the specialist breakers Not sure its possible to work on the single piece heads, though the post-76 split heads can have bushes made up AFAIK
