Hi all, how do we go about taming a sherco 290. Have been told putting slow action throttle on. Changining front sprocket from 10 to 9 tooth and changing the rear sprocket but cant remember what size. Can anyone tell us what doing 1,2 or all three do? At moment it has fast throttle 10 on front and 42 on back and we are finding it a little to much to handle. Thanks Steve

You don't need to do both front and rear sprocket. Going down 1 tooth on the front equals close to going up 3 teeth in the rear, then you

need to buy a new chain. Retard the timing if ya can, plus slow throttle.

The most effective way to soften the power down is to

retard the ignition anything up to about four degrees

is ok!

Fit a slow action throttle. I have an 05 290 and retarded the ignition as far as I could. The bike has nice soft power now. To get the flywheel off the 05 needed a 30mm diameter 1.5mm thread flywheel puller. Got mine from those nice people at Trialsbits.co.uk.
