hi want to change the gearbox/clutch oil on my 315r 2000, took bash plate thinking there was a drain plug, but no.

do i have to remove the clutch cover and tip it on its side? if so what quantity to put bak in and what is recommended? thanks

12mm headed drain bolt on lh side . look by the gear lever.

elf htx740 if you want the correct oil

cheers munch looks different than the rest? ok, do you know how much and where you put new stuff in

The gear box oil filler is behind the banjo bolt for the clutch hydralic line. Vertically above the drain plug. Its a pig to get off. I made special funnel with a hose attached to pour the oil in but the fillers too small. In the end I removed the clutch cover and poured the oil in there with the bike on its side.

Apart from that there nice bikes. I wish I still had mine.

If it helps at all I picked up a set of cheap small plastic funnels from a local hardware shop and used one that fitted in the end of the nozzle from a tube of mastic/sealant with the tapered end of the nozzle into the filler. It was rigid and easy to hold but pour slowly.

thanks for the info sorry about the delay in the reply, what quantity of oil does the gearbox take?

550ml. I flushed mine through with some petrol the first time I changed the oil, then started all over again using ATF. It's helped out my sticky draggy clutch a fair bit and I change it very frequently now, every couple of rides or so. No problems since. ;)
