edholland
I could only find the specs of the 2001 model http://www.gasgas.com/Pages/2001's/TX80-rookie.html and it had 6 gears then. Maybe they changed it to 5 or less later but only 2 gears i don,t think so. Maybe PeterB knows ?
scorpa3
My lad had a brand new 2002 and I'm sure that it had six gears. That was a TXT80 but it was almost exactly the same as the TXT70 from the year before. Is it the same as this? Here's a picture- The only thing that ever went wrong with this one were the spark plugs. He got used to carrying a spare around with him and putting it in when the bike died. It did tis every third or fourth trial and the plug was simply finished. Don't know what caused it and we just put up with it. If your bike is the small wheeled version, there's a chance that it should only have high and low gears, but if it's this one it should have a full range. edholland
ah found the 2003 specs here http://www.gasgas.com/Pages/2003's/txt80-main.html 6 gears.
peterb
Merry Christmas Steve, If your bike has 16 inch front and 14 inch rear wheels, then it is a TXT BOY 50, which has a Gas Gas 50cc motor with 2 gears, selectable with a push/pull lever at the bottom of the LHS of the crank case. This has an auto clutch with manual over ride. If it is a Rookie, it is a Moto Minarelli or Morini motor, can't rmember which but it was a very reliable engine. It came out with 6 gears, standard manual clutch and full size wheels. Hope this helps. Bye, PeterB.
