Having some bike trouble with my bike because it is running to hot and melting my exaust dose anyone know what might be wrong with it

What bike is it and have you changed the exhaust packing?

Running the bike too 'rich' will result in an oily exhaust, which could catch fire...

its a gasgas jtr and i havent changed the packing thanks 4 the reply

any chance you know how much oil i need and what type

engine is still hot after cleaning out carb and air filter and the bike has just had a new exhaust

Can you describe what is the bike is actually doing after you start it up and what, besides the "melting exhaust" are the symptoms that lead you to believe it's running too hot?

Hi thanks for the replies so far

I should have been clearer when I asked about the oil I was meaning the gear oil as mine has now gone below the sight glass.

My dad changed the plug it was really dirty. Sammy Millers mate came up he is a veterain and said he thought the bike was running too hot like almost melting the rear mud guard.

He isn't into modern bikes but was wondering if maybe the coolant wasn't circulating around the engine.

Does the bike have a thermostat?

I am now worried about starting it until I know incase I sieze the engine.
