Anyone know what you need for a day time MOT?

I know you don't need lights or indicators, but presume you need stop light and speedo?

no brake light .speedo fitted dont matter if it works as long as cable fitted.red reflector at back.lights not needed take of any switches.horn must be eletric not bulb type.get one from push bike shop with its own battery.chain gaurd not needed,tyres normal trials type ok but no splits etc.

No brake light either?? Blimey, souinds like all I need is my electric horn from Halfords bike department and a bike speedo and I am away then!

All you need is a number plate which is visible from 15 meters with a reflector a horn that is constant I have strapped a air horn to the forks before and make sure the bike is in good order

yes and no.. speedo not req. ( but is when you ride the bike on the road) for a p65 bike ( i make the assumption as this is the p65 thread) reflector not req. bulb type horn more than adeqate ( for a later bike, 70's onward the continuos horn is req.) no. plate not req.

Visit the MOT tester's manual here

The rule for horns is - "A motor bicycle first used before

1 August 1973 may be fitted with a bulb

horn."

So make sure you get an age related plate not a Q plate.

As Totalshell says - the speedo is not checked for the MoT.

i did not check it was on the pre 65 page,i thought it was a modern bike.

Thanks for the advice. All I need is my registration now! I look forwards to riding through my local town with the local coppers running after me. I bet I will need to carry the MOT certificate with me to expalin my self!

good luck and you dont need a number plate for mot as they can mot it on the frame number.all i had on my mx bike was a halfords horn.rear reflector and a speedo that turned on (it wernt even wired up)
