All Canon "L" glass is expensive to me!

No it's not the F2.8 IS, that's the same money as a half decent second hand Gasser

I use the F4L, still not much change out of about $750-800 USD

Most of my work these days is wildlife photography with a 400mm F4L prime

I no longer ride trials but still like to watch the odd one every now & then, that's the only reason I have kept the 70-200mm

for most wildlife work it's too short.

Oh forgot to mention the F4L actually produces sharper images wide open than the F2.8 IS

However it's no good for action shots in woodland on a cloudy day for instance, the 2.8 is a whole F stop faster and produces the results well in that situation.

My mate has the 2.8, it's quite heavy by comparison and soft wide open, that said it's probably the most used reportage lens in the world.
