Xl185 With 70mm Bore

Featured Replies

Just got me a new project to build. Its a xl185 motor ,bore & stroke are 70x56.4.It has an extrenal oil feed to the cam.Barrel is large finned and shortend slightly to match the stroke. The crank has the same steel bands around the crank as per seeley rs200 ,as does the alternater flywheel.Six speed box.I think the piston is tlr rtl as its kr9 hf1.Will it be any good or will it spin up too quick with the shorter stroke.Frame is Seeley with some sort of alloy seat tank unit. Also disc brake front wheel.Does any one know of any history on the engine or bike.

Std XL 185s didn't have an external oil feed did they??

Dan,

Bleeding Hell !

I used tp have one just like that,

I think i remember the guy saying it was an RTL piston.

Good luck
