September 5, 200916 yr Hi to you all I have recently(3 months ago) rebuilt my 97 270 techno.I only got round to starting it yesterday as i have been very busy with work etc. I put in new piston,rings,smallend and gudgeon pin etc.When i went to start it yesterday it is running really rough.It wont tick over on its own and when you get ready to kick it over you can hear awhoosh sound coming from the air intake. Any ideas?
September 5, 200916 yr Gday, clean the carb and put fresh fuel in. Thats most likely whats happening and easy at this stage. Cheers, Stork.
September 6, 200916 yr Author Hi Stork Yeah done that.Drained fuel tank and put in a slightly richer mix to run the new bits in.Also stripped and cleaned carb with compressed air. Graham
September 6, 200916 yr Hi, Check for leaks on the air hose joints, that is carb to rubber hose and then hose to airbox, if not check fit of reed assembly all these can cause those symptoms. Good luck.
September 7, 200916 yr Take the reads out and look for damage to the reads and that they are sitting flat
