January 6, 201016 yr engaged clutch and switched into first gear. the bike just lunged forward like the clutch was not even engaged. tried a few more times and seems like the clutch is not engaging. there is fluid in the reservoir at the bar. any thought what i should do or look at? thanks in advance

There has to be a little clearance where the adjustment screw on the lever meets the plunger that passes through the rubber boot on the M/C. If the rubber boot is damaged, there is a good chance that grit has passed into the piston bore and damaged the piston seal and you might need a rebuild kit for the M/C. There may be air in the system, but this is rare (and generally not a possibility) in a hydraulic system that is in good shape. Hydraulic systems in proper condition do not magically ingest air, it has to pass by a component that was designed to keep it out. Jon
January 12, 201016 yr Author thank you for your advice. well, i pumped the clutch abotu 10 times and that seemed to fix the problem. i then bled the system and the issue is solved. maybe old clutch fluid? anyway, glad it is solved, for now at least.
