April 10, 201016 yr Hi, Just bought a '75 Cota 247 - nice bike and looks to be the same as any other Cota BUT it has what was described as a 'one and a half seat'. The seat is deep and padded, not ideal for trials but it'd be nice and comfy on the road. Its obvious that its genuine Montesa and not just an aftermarlet seat but I can't find any pics or details of it anywhere else.... Anybody know what it is ???
April 10, 201016 yr Montesa made versions of the 247, 348 and 349 that had bigger seats. In your case it would have been called Cota 247T. Have a search on this website, bikepics or search on google and you will soon find photos.
April 11, 201016 yr "T" is for "trail" 123s had "T" versions too, also the later 348Ts had 349 engines, but were still called 348s. There was no 349T per se. Yours is a 247T.

Well you're 2 years nearer than the bloke that sold it, bike is from 1977.
April 11, 201016 yr The bike was sold as a Cota Clubman in 1977, it had the same alloy mudguards that the UKR model had, it was meant as it's replacement. There's an article in the Rob Edwards column of TMX #14 Aug 19 1977 & then there's a full bike test in issue #20. I wouldn't be able to point out that there's several TMX news for sale on ebay at the moment, that's advertising.
April 11, 201016 yr Author Thanks all, hopefully get it out in a trial in the next few weeks, might try to get a standard Cota seat/tank unit.
