2010 Bike Advice For Junior

Hello All.

I'm looking for a little advice. I've been riding Trials for a year now on an 02 Scorpa Sy 250. Last week she failed me (electrics and water don't mix) not terminal and easiley fixed but time time for something newer as I had to spectate the last event. Here in Canada they're offering a 2010 Economy model for a really good price as a 2010 racing would not be an option for me. I'm told that the bike is an 08 chassis with a 2010 engine. Differances being a tube type rear tire, different head with non interchangable combustion dome, steel vs Ti header and Sachs front and rear suspension with a steel tube up front. I can get an 08 300 pro used for the same price so I mine as well get new.

I have a few questions. First, does anybody know of any other differenaces between the 2010 pro and the 2010 pro eco. Non of the above mentioned differances concern me as I'm currently on an 02 and all this would be a huge improvement over my current equipment. I was a little concerned with the TT rear tire but am told it's the same rim as the 08 (no pretty anodizing like the 10's) so I can change it out to a tubless if desired (Once worn of course).

I'm also hung up on the 250, 280, 300 option. I've been told the 250 has a great engine and have pretty well ruled out the 300 as I don't see the need to detune. I'm curious what would be best between the 280 and 250. I know that no matter what I get I will love it and any choice will not impead my ability.

I've been riding motorcycles of all sorts for years but started trials last year. I do compete but only 3-4 events a year at the Junior level. Here we have Novice, Junior, Intermediate and Expert. Next year I may move to Intermediate. Most of my events are tight technical turns, small hills etc on mainly clay which gets extreemly greasey when wet and small logs. I don't feel that I have the greatest throttle or clutch control but am learning and have improved greatly over the last year. I never liked the clutch in my sy250 as it seems extreemly grabby with a fairly tough pull. I tend to be a very clutchy rider who love to slip the clutch but always had trouble with this on my sy (I'm used to yz250's mx'ers) I'm not small at 200 lbs or 90kg and was concerned that the 250 may be a little soft. That being said I seem to do fine on sy250. I won't be doing big ledges or splatters in the near future but do ride some large steep hills.

I've never owend a gasser but they're very popular here and the economy model seems perfect for me at my level. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks All.
