TY175 Yokes standard size to 35mm?

Featured Replies

Hi, has anyone tried boring out ty175 yokes from the standard size to take 35mm diameter forks? Are they strong enough if you take out enough metal to fit 35mm forks into them? Thanks for any advice you can give. Alan

I did that with the 250 yoeks to fit a mono frontfork,no problem.

Will change in the near futere my 175 Fork and yokes for std 250 Twinshock.

I've had TY250 twinshock yokes bored out to 35mm no problem but cant comment on ty175 yokes. Think boring to 36mm for fitting TY mono forks leaves the clamps a bit too thin for my liking.

TY175 yokes have the fork legs angled forward relative to the steerer whereas the TY 250 ones are parallel?

I will do a fork swap to my 125TY too, got my hands to a complete front end of a TY250 from 86 I believe.

There you have distance difference from at least 4mm between higher clamp to lower clamp (lower clamp is >/+ 4mm farther away) to the steering axle.

But distance between the stanchions is wider so you need a new front wheel axle and bushings.
