Alpinestars tech 3 boots

you can ride trials in motocross boots, but trials specific boots are more suitable.

Trials boots are more flexible, shorter and have flat soles.

They are more comforatable and give you the feel that you need.

A good trials rider will still be a good trials rider in motocross boots though.

no

you will very very rarely (never) see anyone at a trial in enduro/ moto x boots. too smooth, too rigid in the ankle and sole.

you may sometimes see the odd pair of saftey wellies, or walking boots. these would be a better alternative i think.

you need grip to walk the sections, dab the floor and feel the footrests.

lets be honest, you can either ride the bike or you can't but this type of boot is very ill-suited to trials, so it certainly wont help in my opinion.

Thanks for the advice.

Can you recommend some cheap boots? Just starting out and I don't want to spend a fortune just yet.

Thanks!

Tried a few on and went for the Gaernes in dark brown.

They are sooo comfy.

I manage OK with a pair of Tech 3's. But I use the enduro model with a chunky sole, not the flat soled MX boots. My boots are quite old now, so are well worn in and Flexible. I dont think a new pair of MX boots would make riding trials very easy as they are too stiff.
