  1. OK thanks for the help.
  2. Sorry for the slow response I've been away for the weekend. I've uploaded a picture http://www.flickr.com/photos/78678479@N06/7159055923/in/photostream The water seems to bubble out when its ticking over.
  3. Thanks for the response. Yes it's definitely coming from the overflow. I can see it bubble out.
  4. I started my bike and noticed water leaking out of what looks like and overflow near the transmission oil drainage bolt. Why would it do this?
  5. Within minutes of posting I've just found this http://www.sherco.co...ation_Guide.pdf from the sherco site. And whole bunch of useful guides from here http://www.sherco.com/wayne/ The previous links I had didn't work. Will the above transmission oil be OK to use? Thanks
  6. I ride a 290 2001 and need to learn how to maintain my bike properly. I've basically run mine into an inch of its life but before I buy a new bike I want to practice maintaining the old one first. Now the bike isn't in great condition so I don't want to spend bucket loads on it, but I want to get it to a decent condition for selling and learn a few things along the way. Also I've only been riding in the local quarries so I want to get my bike into a decent condition to join my local club and ride in novice trials. So far I've started off by changing the spark plugs, replacing the air filter and removing the air box for cleaning. I was amazed at how much sh!te was in there. Now I want replace the gear oil. I've looked around the net for information on how to do this but haven't come across anything useful. I do have the spare parts manual for my bike but that's it. Now this is the gear oil I plan to use. http://www.splatshop.co.uk/ipone-gear-box-oil-1-ltr.html Is this the correct stuff? Also can anyone give me any pointers? Cheers
  7. Yes it ran fine before my mate cleaned the carb. I should learn how to maintain it myself but I don't have enough spare time.
  8. My 2001 290 now does this. A mate of mine kindly cleaned my carb for me but now it starts ok and runs with the choke on but dies when it's off. He suggested turning the air mixture screw but I'm not sure which one it is. Anyone got a pic of where I can find it? or if I post a pic, point me in the right direction?
  9. Cheers for the advice people. I think i will get some of.the gaerne polish from trials UK. Does oiling the boots remove scuffs?
  10. I've recently bought a pair and would like to look after them. Do they need re-oiling after being washed? I've had a google around but can't find anything on how to look after them.
  11. Can't really see the top picture enough. The bottom pic looks ok. They look a little less snug then my wulfsport pants.
  12. Are they all tight fitting? I feel a bit of a plank wearing them.
  13. Tried a few on and went for the Gaernes in dark brown. They are sooo comfy.
  14. What do people recommend for a budget of
  15. Thanks for the advice. Can you recommend some cheap boots? Just starting out and I don't want to spend a fortune just yet. Thanks!
  16. Are these boots any good for trials riding?
  17. I was out at the weekend just generally mincing around and started to try and tackle a small rock on a flat surface. I was trying a small wheelie over it. A guy who had been watching me came over to offer some advice. He said I need to give it a 'blip' and not wanting to sound like an idiot I just agreed. He then pointed to a small step up and said that I could tackle that with a 'double blip'. So when he said blip, is that just a bit of throttle to get the wheel up, then shut off and role over the rock? Or wheel up and shut off when over the rock? Not sure of the correct technique. Thanks
  18. I was thinking that a few millimeters shouldn't be much of a problem to a beginner. The tyre is the problem at the minute. It's actually rubbing against the inside of the swingarm. Hopefully it's just a case of reseating the tyre and not a new tyre job.
  19. Yes. I managed to drill out the remaining screw body without affecting the thread. Thanks for the tip, I will do that.
  20. I think I've bought a rotter! Another problem. After having owned the bike a week I've noticed the back wheel looks seriously buckled. On closer inspection the tyre isn't seated properly on the rim. So that looks fixable. Whilst I was looking, I put the bike on a stand with the back wheel in the air. I held a screw driver about a millimeter away from the rim and spun the wheel slowly. Part the way round the gap increased to about 3 mm. Is this ok? or does it need truing? or replacing?
  21. I've only had the bike a week and it was like that when I got it so I will have a go at stripping it down. I've ordered one from splat. Thanks for the advice, very much appreciated.
  22. Ok, any ideas where to get one from?
  23. Hi, Might try this place at the weekend. Is there plenty for beginners? and do you have to pay to get in? Thanks
  24. Crap! It has been stored for over a week with the petrol tap on.
