I have a long term project on the go at the moment a C15.

Was up the shed tonight and done a dry build on the rolling

chassis,seems like I will have to increase the ground clearance

as its quite low about 9",not very good.The frame is standard,

front forks are standard,What is the best length of rear shockers

to fit to help with the ground clearance.As I said its a long

term project as I'm enjoying riding my 250 Scorpa and learning

every trial I do.Any other advice would be much appreciated.

hi, this is my dads C15T which he got last year. it was standard and had the external sprung forks etc. As you say there isnt too much ground clearance so that was the main task in getting the bike ready. Initially we just replaced the front springs as there was quite a bit of sag in them. This didnt really help much and it was decided that the front forks would be replaced. We settled on MZ forks, not pre 65 but look the part especially when the seal holders are added and i think they were slightly longer than standard so helped again with ground clearance. Also i managed to get some alloy yokes to suit and these were added.

We had the head angle altered slightly to tuck the wheel in which probably gave us a little extra ground clearance and the footrests dropped and moved back a little.

I think the rear shock length is now 360mm, but will need to check. With the mods i think the bike now has around 12-13" of clearance.

Front end finished,looking to build a wheel for the rear,

was wondering what width of rim to use?

generaly the rear rim width is 1.85 inch, though some bikes use 2.15 inch. as you would still be using a 4 by 18 tyre i'm not sure what difference the wider rim would make to the tyre profile and therefore grip .....but the wider rim might make the tyre too "fat" for your swing arm, so i'm guessing you would be better with th 1.85 rim. there'll be a bunch of C15/B40 riders along any minute with their views i'm sure.

If you haven't bought anything yet go for the 1.85.

For slow tight turns, 428 with 13/72 seems OK with an 18 tooth engine sprocket.

Incidentally I use 15 / 62 with 428 chain on the B40, some clever person will be able to work out if its the same as 13 / 72. But has the advantage of a slightly smaller rear sprocket for clearance.
