How exactly does the detachable rear frame attach to the main frame part just above the footpegs on either side?

i have seen photos of each downtube located on the inside and on the outside of the main frame.

anyone know for sure which way is correct?

Sound like a silly question I know!

    it sits on the inside,the bolts have thin nuts on the inside.
