March 28, 200521 yr Saw a few bikes with black rims yesterday at the Jack Wood. I fancy mine doing, does anybody know who can do this job. I would need somebody to rebuild the wheels afterwards. An idea of cost would be appreciated. Thought I had read some info. on this site some time ago but can,t find it now. Thanks in advance.
March 28, 200521 yr i was at the jack wood yesterday with black rims dunno whether you saw mine.but mine are actually enduro rims made by xcel so thay are alot stronger than standard!these cost me
April 3, 200521 yr I done it myself on my gas gas, just mask the spokes and take off your tyre then use some good quality plastic coat paint and give it about 3 coats. I painted mine black and it lasted ages, I just had to touch it up everytime I hit the rim on a rock or scratched the paint.

April 5, 200521 yr did the paint chip easily? i am thinking about doing this to my sherco No not really just use good quality paint, don't buy crap cheap stuff. Give it a coat of clear laquer aswell when its finished. When you think about it you don't hit your rims on things that often anyway and if you do all you need to do is touch it up. Im thinking about doing it too my sherco aswell but I can't decide what colour. The best thing about doing my gas gas black was that I didn't even need to take the tyres off, but im not sure black will suit a sherco, I like the gold on Joe Bakers old bike but I haven't decided yet. What colour are you thinking about for yours?
