You could also try Shedworks, they have guards for the TL125 but they don't advertise any for the TL250. Give them a try you might get lucky (punk, well do you feel lucky....nevermind...)

I found some replica preston petty fenders on ebay that worked out ok...even silver!

Is there anything you can do to these bikes to actually make them rideable in a trials setting? ^_^

Rideable - Yes. Just add lightness and ride.

Competitive- You might take a vintage P51 Mustang into an air race, but you wouldn't enter a fat and slow DC3/C47 now would you.
