I currently have a JTR 250 (1996?) and i've noticed that there is an awful amount of sag in the front forks. I find I can pull the bike up quite far before the front wheel lifts off the floor. I have adjusted the two dials at the top of the fork (compression and rebound I believe? Hopefully someone can clear this up for me) but theres still a lot of sag even when i'm not on the bike. I have recently changed the oil when the seals where changed and I'm only a light rider (around 10 stone with all my kit on). I was really after some guidance what I could try / do to reduce the sag as it makes the bike feel really heavy when bouncing around. bob_m Posted December 27, 2012 Report Share Posted December 27, 2012 I have a 1996 JTR270 and the forks sagged about 1/3 of the travel as well. I made 1" long PVC pipe spacers slit along the length and slid them on top of the springs on both sides and it is working well for me. thats_a_five Posted December 28, 2012 Report Share Posted December 28, 2012 I have a '94 JT25 and my buddy has a '95 JTR250. The triple clamps are different as are the forks. His has sagged way more than mine and it makes the front end feel very heavy as you have described. I do see replacement springs on ebay sometimes for your series bikes. About US$80 for the set. Spacers may work for you, just be careful about making them too long becasue that could cause the coil spring to completely bottom out which could damage things. Good luck. Jake, Left is spring compression and right is hydraulic damping according to the manual. You might want to try 7.5 weight fork oil as well.
