Brake Disc Free Play

Featured Replies

Noticed tonight that the front brake disc on my sherco has some movement in it where it is bolted to the hub. About 3mm I'd say. Just wondering if this is normal or if the disc should be tight.

Thanks

3mil at the bolts would be excessive, but at the disc rim it may be exaggerated so could be normal. If memory serves me the front disc is a floating disc so some movement is normal

If the bolts are snug then it's probably normal free play for a floating disc. Many hubs have been ruined by people thinking there should be no disc movement and cranking down on the screws.

3mm sounds about normal, there ends up being a bit of sideways play as well

Same on my Evo, new bikes seem tight but I doubt it can come apart
