I made a start on my next sidecar project today. post-2720-0-33994400-1376439679_thumb.jpg

Been making the brackets and re-enforcing the front frame legs of a Beta Evo.

Every thing so far is made from 3 mm flat bar. ether 30 mm or 50 mm wide. I will also be replacing the left hand foot peg hanger with one I am fabricating out of 5 mm x 50 mm flat bar.

post-2720-0-20132300-1376440328_thumb.jpg I will keep you all up to date with how things go.

I had a bit more time in the workshop today and managed to get the chair attached to the bike. Every thing is tack welded at this stage. I had a run round the garden and up and down the street. All seemed OK.post-2720-0-61019500-1376950356_thumb.jpg

In the second photo you can see the replacement foot peg hanger I made from 5 mm steelpost-2720-0-91033700-1376950660_thumb.jpg

and the front two mounts.post-2720-0-91176000-1376950819_thumb.jpgpost-2720-0-26432900-1376950914_thumb.jpg

I've ordered a new shock for the sidecar from Falcon Shock Absorbers Ltd. All done by email and sat phone,(as I'm in the middle of the North sea) , Robin was very helpful and said he had the correct shocks in stock.

Managed another two days on the sidecar project. Rebuilt the back of the Beta with all new bearings and seals and finished the rear sub-frame.post-2720-0-68632500-1380295608_thumb.jpg

post-2720-0-34088500-1380295777_thumb.jpg Sub-frame offset to the right so that the passenger can have a hand hold and not trap their

fingers in the wheel.

Cheers bultoboy, I'll keep it coming. I'm hoping to get it all done in the next week or so. I've just started sorting out the twist that was in the nose cone of the chair which is taking a bit of thought and head scratching.

But it can wait until Monday now, as we are trialing with the Norfolk & Suffolk Junior Mcc this weekend. :D

No new photo's this time,

But all the steel work is done and in for sand blasting and powder coating!

I'm using http://wwww.aerocoat.net who are just down the road from me and do a great job.(had them do my Bultaco's frame) They do a semi mat/silk black that is a spot on match for the beta frame.

I have also made a new floor for the sidecar from 3 mm aluminium and new side's and top for the nosecone from 3 mm polypropylene sheet.

Well I will try to post some new photo's soon.

Hi sparks2,

This is a different sidecar to the one I have on the Bultaco M49. I got this one from a friend for £150 and the one on the Bulto my son and I built from scratch.

We have been using the Bultaco as much as we can, the wife and I hope to be out on it his coming weekend in fact.

We had our first run out on the new outfit yesterday and Boy! was it fun. So much easier to ride than the Bultaco. More power, better steering (it go's where you point it) and about half the weight. all in all well worth the work! :D
