  1. I have been riding modern sidecar for a decade and before that bultaco with a left side shift. Was hoping to ride pre74 but with a left hand change. Also want a European manufacturer so I can ride pre65 club and Mortimer.
  2. Yes I know it's not a trials bike but........ What year did the pursang engine start being able to have the left hand gear change?
  3. Evening all, My old dad has riden trials on and off all his life. He has riden bultacos the last 15 years or so.but now finds them too heavy. I personally think it may have somthing to do with lack of maintenance and the bike being a bag of bolts! Any way........I am wondering if there is an alternative for him. He is convinced a lightweight trick bsa bantam holds all the answers. I reckon a modern lil 4 stroke with electric start. Either way just wanna keep the old boy riding . Many thanks
  4. Barman said you cant bring that in here Man walks into a bar with a time machine. .............
  5. My sister was the driving force behind the sidecarcross purchase and she is going to be the passanger. I am back at my dads this weekend so I will get out into the shed and try to get some pictures of the bultaco chair. I will get some close ups of the welds to the frame and how we went about making it all work.
  6. Not strictly trials but here is my new toy I bought today.
  7. Loving the fact you update you topic as you get stuff done. Its a bit of a how too guide that I am following
  8. Last night whilst the wife was asleep I swapped her tampon for a party popper with the string hanging out. Turns out that she doesn't have a sense of humour 1st thing in the morning
  9. I must admit I bought the chair pre built and modified to suit the bultaco. Its at my dads at the moment but I will take lots of pictures and post them up soon. The man to ask about side cars is paul who has posted above. He has given me plenty of help via email on this build.
  10. Pictures and video please. Can you let us in on your other creations.
  11. Not sure. I bolted it on 5 years ago and it is still going. I think you can adjust it by rotating the back plate but you would have to ask dave renham or one of his colleagues.
  12. Stair lifts they drive me up the bloody wall!!!

To be honest you dont need one.I have had my bultaco159 since I was 13 so over 12 years (I was 6ft tall even at that age) and learnt to ride trials on it. As you can imagine I have had some pretty hairy crashes as a part of my learning curve (two dislocated shoulders and a dislocated ankle) but never did I damage the engine cases. The only time I damaged the cases was when my chain came off and smashed the back of the ignition cover. My fault as I took the chain well past its best before date. I must admit my lower tubes are not in perfect condition but it shows that the bike is used not just to look at.
  14. Really like the slow mo. Where I ride is all mud and muck so I get stumped on rocks and quarrys. Seeing your slow mo shots shows very well how to preload the suspension and getting it to work in your favour. Keep them comming.
  15. Mokwepa you bugger.........I haven't seen this thread and then you comented on it bringing it to the top of the list! The end result is that I have just done the same as you! Tis 1am and work alarm is set for 5.:-D Worth the read though
  16. Hi Paul, I have put some njb experts onto the bultaco, there is a guy at inmotion who used to ride outfits and after a bit of a natter he took some weights and got his man at njb to build me some one offs up. I thi k he but on 75lb springs. I have got everything welded up now so the shock on the chair will have to stay. The vendor did split the bike up and sold it on separate. I phoned him and negotiate a very good price for the chair. (Less then 170 quid). I think I need to find a tyre for the wheel. Any ideas? Its off a kawasaki I think about 16 inch will look later. Hopefully I will have the engine in soon and try a trial in the next few weeks. I am making the most of my ajs stormer running for the 1st time in years and the scramble season is nearly over.
  17. I must admit the work took a while especially as I have a rare breed of dog. Its ment to be a springerdor but it definitely has magpie in him. The little black puppy is 15 weeks old and is a hoarder of tools. As soon as a spanner went near the floor I would always find it some time later in his bed. He even takes nuts and bolts.
  18. My bultaco has been the base of this project and its not quite finished but here is a few pics. Thanks to paul and bultaco uk for the help I first stripped the bike to a rolling chassis. Lined the chair up and prepped for welding Took lots of measurements and got the thing ready to be welded. More pictures to follow
  19. thanks for all the help guys. big thanks to paul who shares my attitude of give it a go and try, I have the day off work today and have found a happy medium. I have found via my mate, a proffesional welder who is out of work and is willing to weld the outfit with me and teach me a bit about welding. Basicaly he is watching me weld and will point out any mistakes and correct them. The waters have broke! a new outfit should be born by the weekend.........watch this space.
  20. Hi guys It's all to common to here of company after company delivering bad service. After a mention on here I sent some ajs stormer/villers parts to have some work done by Nametab engineering. I phoned Simon Bateman up on monday to ask if he had recieved my bits, to which he said yes however he was going away tuesday for 10 days (oh bugger). He was very apologetic and explained that he had to much work on to do it that day...........I recieved the bits back on wednesday!!!! Not only that but its some of the best work i have ever seen done!!! Simon must of pulled out all the stops for me and I am a first time customer who he does not even know.......he could not of even had time to put my cheque in the bank. On top of all that he even sent the girlfriends tea towel back which i used as packaging. Not often I praise a company but Simon deserves all my future custom. just thought i should let the world know that some people/companies out there still value us
  21. Ok I have had most people I know say the same about welding. I think i will have to spend some money and give it to some one who knows what they are doing.
