I/Autowbars looked at producing a demountable bike trailer a few years ago.

When we made a prototype and looked into getting it tested the testing co advised us that there was no way we would get product liability insurance for it !!

A trailer does not have to be less width than the towing vehicle as long as it has the legal lighting and reflectors.

A two bike trailer can be made very slim by loading the bikes forward & reverse.

Bit awkward but does work, we have made a few this way.
