I have the same boots and got the same problem within a few months. I have s3 foot pegs and reckon they are the likely culprit.

Because I've ordered these and hope they don cause the same problem.

 

They dont look like the hardrocks I had on the old bike

 

In fact looking at that footpeg  I am not sure they were either , although the box was cos I still have it.

Could be a change during years.

 

My boots look kind of the same (hebo's), but after many many years. I just use the standard pegs.

There are different models of S3 Hardrock foot pegs.

Mine are the ones with the Alan key studs not these you have ordered.

In fact those you've ordered look like they would be a better bet for preservation of the boots :-)

Yeah, that's where I got mine from. I just ordered the largest tube and it has lasted me a good while.

The main reason I ordered these, is because they have a 10mm set back, so the front of the pegs, is at the same distance as the narrower ones I got now on my Bultaco.

I've had two pairs of Gaerne oiled boots. I ride ~100 hours a season. The soles on mine looked worse than yours after a single season. The Gaerne's are very soft, and there's no way around that. 

 

I ended up moving to Alpinestars for that reason. They're not as comfortable, but they're not bad, and your position on the pegs, and therefore the bike, is very different and will take some getting used to. You stand a lot higher as the soles don't bend anywhere near as much (or at all compared to the Gaerne's).

I've got both gaernes and Alpinestars and indeed, it takes some getting used to the higher stance of the Alpinestars, especially when they're new.

 

I think that's one of the reasons, the top guys have different soles on their Alpinestars, especially those of Bou looked exactly like soft gaerne soles

.

It's a always compromise between durability and flexibility.
