July 20, 201610 yr Hi, I after some help with what knee protection to buy. I'm currently laid up with a fractured knee cap and a full leg cast for 5 weeks after a small off in a river section and need to prevent this happening again. I'm new to trials after years of riding green lanes and enduros and bought a Suzuki Beamish last year to ride in the local twinshock series which was going quite well until this happened. I was thinking of buying mountain bike pads to go under my enduro pants but wondered if anyone have any experience of what to buy. July 20, 201610 yr I've got a pair of riding trousers that have removable knee pads in them that work well cant mind the maker tho
July 20, 201610 yr I use one for MTB (MR pro Extreme) which offer more protection and since it is supposed to be used when pedalling, it not restrict any movement. Look also for something from 661 brand
July 20, 201610 yr is use MTB pads, loosen the boots a little and they fit down the shin nicely and offer a nice big knee cup. I started after mashing my knee up by falling on rocks with it as well, don't ride without them now
July 20, 201610 yr Can't see why hinged motocross ones wouldn't work ? Mine have 3 straps and are very comfy.

July 20, 201610 yr How thick is the material that covers the knee? The older ones with the velcro strap and yellow writing are from memory around 3/4" at the thickest point. They have a tough plastic outer layer with the typical soft armor foam on the inside. I haven't seen the all black ones up close.
July 20, 201610 yr Been using Jitsie for a year, bit sweaty in hot weather but they get tossed in the washer and haven't fell to bits yet. The unanswerable part is would they or any other prevent shattered knee caps.
July 20, 201610 yr Author Thanks, I have some Knox ones that I've used for years on my enduro bike but forgot them the day I injured my knee so thought it was worth while upgrading my gear and making sure I wear it religiously!!!
