May 9, 20188 yr Hi guys I have water in my gearbox so its time to change the water pump seals and shaft, however on dismantling the side cover I realise you have to take the engine out to change the water pump seal as the complete side cover for the gear box wont come completely free due to the Frame being in the way ?????? I have had the engine out before to do a complete rebuild I should have maybe changed seals then but I didnt think, Any suggestions please?????? Many thanks i advance. May 9, 20188 yr Unless somebody has blocked up the weep hole in the bottom of the water pump casing water will not get into the gearbox if the water pump seals fail so are you sure this is the cause of your problem? And if you do need to change the water pump seals then just remove the water pump from the clutch case. It seems you're wanting to make things hard for yourself.
May 9, 20188 yr Absolutely no need to remove engine to change the seal. You can remove rear brake pedal to make it easier, but the clutch side case will come off with the engine in the frame. The water pump is mounted in this.
