What is this 198 engine?

Featured Replies

I have inherited a Bultaco engine with the number RM-19802534-A.  It is a 250 engine but I have no idea if the 'RM' at the beginning of the serial number has any significance.  Any help would be appreciated!

RM is one of the prefixes Bultaco used on engine numbers. The R is the capacity and the M is for motor.

The A at the end means it is from a model 198A not from a model 198

Thank you, that explains it and also explains my other bike which is just a 198!

His is a list of the Prefix Letters, that I came across some years ago,

I’m afraid I cannot credit the source of the document as I cannot recall who the Author was.
