February 9, 20224 yr Hi, can anyone shed light on my question? Ive an Ossa 250 MAR 1976 model, I’m having trouble with starting it, it was running ok then died, on kicking over the spark looked weak, suspecting electrical failure I tested HT coil which seams ok, I stripped down and removed the stator. I’ve tested this and seams ok no open circuits. I am wondering, as the ignition is supposed to be Electronic, why are there points and a condenser fitted to the stator? Please can you help, I’ve posted a picture of the stator. regards Steve G
February 9, 20224 yr The Ossa MAR had electronic but when they brought out the TR77 in 1977 (green tank bike) they fitted points to it. They went back to electronic on the TR80 Gripper. Either system will fit all of the trials models so maybe someone replace the elctronic on your bike with the points system, unless you have a TR77 rather than a MAR - engine number will tell you Can't help diagnose an electrical problem but you don't mention trying a different plug. Also possible is the pilot system being blocked or partially blocked in the carb

February 12, 20224 yr Author Thanks for your reply, I went to the Dirtbike show today and bought an electronic stator which will hopefully do away with points and condenser.
