Just wanted to introduce myself. Looking at getting a trials bike. Probably too old, too fat (that could be a franchise film with 200 sequels I am sure) but need to get fit and wasn't allowed one when I was a kid (Junior Kickstart for those oldies out there, might remember). Got back on a bike a few years ago after a long time learning to walk again post accident. Thought, what the hell - do it before the joints completely give out. I remember a friend that did MX, and there was always the old fat bloke at the back that was 65 and they all respected him and gave him space as he was having his fun and riding his own race. That will be me, no doubt.

Work wise, I work with a charity in the motorcycle industry, so if you have any theft related issues - feel free to give me a poke and I will help where I can. Not had much to do with 2 strokes or trials bikes, but build plenty of road bikes in the past. Be prepared for many, many, stupid questions and head slapping moments.😁

Ukbta, welcome! I’m 64 and took up trials again three years ago after a 45 year gap. I’m not fat though but you make it sound like it’s fun. I may give it a try myself. Also, my friend from high school, just started up again too, and he is fat and is enjoying riding again immensely. We met up up in the Owyhee mountains in the Idaho desert just a month ago to relive old times. We had a great time! No, we’re not experts at all but it’s still a blast. Give it a go!

Based in the West Midlands area. Will be doing a little poking around the area soon.

Welcome ukbta. Where do you live? You may find there's someone on here that is close to you. It will also help us guide you on questions like dealers, practice areas, etc.

Thanks, makes me feel better knowing I am not the only one that thinks growing up is optional, I was expecting many youngsters. I'm a little over 15st - or as I like to put it: 'I once had a six pack - now I'm older I can afford a barrel'  I'm probably being harsh on myself, but was always fairly trim until I had the spinal injury which changed things being laid up so long. Came from a Speedway line from young, so bikes were in the blood. Still associate the smell of gunk with speedway bikes in my uncles garage.
