Hello all, Iv just picked myself up a 2001 sherco 290 for £895 of flee bay. Apart from front and rear mudguard having a couple of cracks which are cable tied she seems to be in ok condition, might need a new front and rear tyre as walls are starting to crack.
Is their anything I should look out for on her? I have yet to take her for a proper ride yet...

Cheers Justin

I have a 2000.

Main one for me is the gearbox oil becoming milky due to the waterpump seals becoming worn. It's nothing major and easy to do. I'd just check and change your oil often enough to keep an eye on it. Replace the seals when needed

'01 was a nice bike, yet the mudguards specific to that year were pre finisched and clearcoated and very expensive.

Many just put the later years on them, 02-03 or later in silver rather than blue up to '05.

Would the water pump seals make water go a sort of light purple colour?

No, I would think that due to the coolant(antifreeze)used. You doo need that you know!
