niallpeters1 Posted March 3, 2015 Report Share Posted March 3, 2015 Sherco 250 fan not working Bought new fan New regulator New rectifier By passed switch still nothing bike runs everything just fan not working I tested the fan to to make sure it works it does?? Any ideas what it could the connector for stator wire I am changing tomorrow but if that doesn't work im baffled cost £130 so far and still doesn't run ??? tony27 Posted March 3, 2015 Report Share Posted March 3, 2015 Regulator & rectifier both sit under the front tank mount, the post that the tank sits over passes through the frame then both off them before screwing into the coil mount. ourian Posted March 3, 2015 Report Share Posted March 3, 2015 Have you checked any voltages with a multi meter? From Stator approx 24v A.C. From Voltage regulator approx 12v A.C. if only one wire from regulator to rectifier then the regulator must be earthed usually via the fixing screw From Rectifier approx 12v D.C. copemech Posted March 4, 2015 Report Share Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) What you are saying is the fact you seem to have tossed off all your easy options. OK, I will throw one at you, as you have not even checked for source voltage when running, try that on the yellow wire and if nothing is there then use the meter to ohm the continuity of the yellow wire circuit to the mag. To do this, disconnect the thing up top, then ohm to frame(earth). There should be continuity of a few ohms back down and through the source coil in the mag, and if not then you will need to find the break or isolate it to yhe coil itself. Capiche? copemech Posted March 5, 2015 Report Share Posted March 5, 2015 The source circuit from the mag also powers the lights, and if you have the stock lighting harness still installed then the wireing runs to all that as well and ANY potential short to earth could take the voltage down. I have allways run the lighting harness removed and used the jumper harness available from splatshop and others for a fiver. That eliminates a lot of crap!
