  1. TXT 50 BOY says it all. If you want to ride them and not compromise the suspension for your boys then you better invest in a job lot of fenders! How about buying a bike of your own?
  2. Are you sure the carbs not flooding?
  3. Hi Tony, It's good to know someone else has the same problem as me! I'm not particularly worried about the vibration, just the knocking at idle. I've got most of the parts I need for a complete rebuild but don't want to do do it at the moment, mainly because I don't have a garage to work in at the moment and I don't want to rebuild it and find I still have the same problem. If or more likely when I rebuild it the only bit I to sub out will be the crank rebuild. Can anyone recommend someone in the South East to do this? Thanks Colin
  4. A couple of months ago the crankshaft nut came loose on my 2002 MK3 Pampera, wedged against the primary cover and stopped the engine. Loctite and 40Nm sorted that out. Now after about 400 miles the engine vibrates at low revs and knocks on idle. The cause seems to be excessive end float on the crankshaft, I've not measured it but it seems considerably more than the 0.02-0.03mm recommended. My main concern is WHERE did this end float come from? There's no apparent radial play in the main bearings or thrust washers to wear and the big end seems OK so I'm a bit reluctant to split the cases at the moment. The basic engine is the same as a TXT 250 Edition I believe. Anyone got any ideas? Colin

    250 to 280

I have an '02 Pampera which is in need of a cylinder replate. Could it be bored out to 280 {72.5mm to 76mm] then replated? Obviously I'll have to use a 280 piston and head, rejet the carb etc. but everything else looks the same to me. The engine is the same as the TXT 250 Edition, has anyone done this? Colin Not such a good idea, opening the bore out to 76mm would lower the base of the transfer ports, especially the rear one, by about 3mm!
  6. According to the parts list I found on the Gas Gas USA site the Pampera should have a 45/45w headlight anyway, so I'm looking for the soloution to a problem that doesn't exist.
  7. This has been in my head all day. The lighting circuit must be AC otherwise, why would the fan motor need a rectifier? and the voltage regulator is marked as 12v AC on the wiring diagram. I've found 30/30w quartz bulb with the correct fitting for the headlight so I'm going to use that and leave the rest as standard.
  8. Yea I'm thinking to much!
  9. I'm planning on upgrading the lights on my 2002 Pampera. My first thought was to fit a 45/40w quartz headlight bulb but I dont know if the alternator would handle it. So I thought fit an LED bulb in the tail light. They are rated at 1.2/1w as against 21/5w so this should save me the 20w I need for the front. Then I found a wiring diagram, it shows that the only component fitted after the rectifier is the fan motor. My limited auto-electric knowledge tells me that the lighting circuit is A/C and that LEDs only work on D/C. Am I right in thinking this and does it matter anyway, should I just put the 45/40 bulb in and see what happens. In case your wondering I'm going to be using the bike on the road mainly and for a little light green laning. I know it's not an ideal road bike but I bought it because its different and it reminds me of my youth when all trail bikes were 2strokes, except Hondas XT 500s and Britbikes of course. I had several trail bikes ranging from a brand new DT175MX ( 1978 and
  10. Thanks for all the replies, I think I have the info I need regarding the exhaust, de- coke and paint for now, replacement when it rots through! However keep an eye out for my next topic as I'll probably need more help! Thanks again everyone
  11. Thanks for the pics Pete, everything looks exactly the same as mine except the sumpguard and the plate around the exhaust flange, aftermarket/ homemade I assume? (and the shape of the indicators, but now I'm being picky!)
  12. Can anyone suggest where I can get a front pipe for my 2002 Pampera 250? Gas Gas UK have three listed with different bends and cant say which one I need unless I send a photo. Are the bends different to alter power characteristics? Or are they for specific models? Prices are
