just an update did compression test yesterday reading on average 120lbs sqin or just over 8bar !! changed the plug to an iridium BPR5EIX went for a ride and stopped after 1/2hour took ages to start again??? started on 2nd kick this morning from cold with choke no throttle?? things improving slowly!!

yes it does speed it up but doesn't need choke for long!! yes 0.025thou!! will try new cap tomorrow and have a look at the lead as well !! will nip to my mates and do a compression test over the weekend thing is when its running i cant fault it, it pulls like a train and is smooth ?

its ngkBPR5ES 25thou but ive tried altering gap! ive ordered an iridium plug BPR5EIX to try !! cap looks ok im going to start working back from the plug if things dont improve ie cap,lead,coil etc??

a little better from cold 2day !! choke no throttle !!! after 45mins stopped in the forestry for a rest 10mins later no start !!

im working nights tomorrow so weather permitting im off for a ride in the morning !!! will let you know how she performs !! when you start with choke after stopping are you using any throttle?

thanks for the reply yes kickstart all ok kicks nicely now and yes aligned ok!! managed to get it started just now after leaving it cool a little and using the choke??

she gotta go!!! fitted 38 pilot jet and dropped the floats down!!!! checked inside flywheel and cleaned it out !!!! started after about 8 kicks with choke run for 15mins and adjusted carb switched off to answer phone and guess wont start kicked and kicked and KICKED!!!!!!!!!!!!! ?????????

i overcame this by using 6mm cage nuts just file the hole in the frame square and clip the nuts in behind!! they work a treat!!!

i will try 38 pilot jet and raise the floats !! what year was yours ?ive got carb off and as i said it was spotless inside!!! will let you all know if any improvement !!!! fingers crossed cos i got my eye on a montesa 4rt

dont want to sound ungrateful any replies are much appreciated, but ive changed the plug and set to 25thou ive had the carb in bits and it is now mint inside im gonna try the pilot jet first?? if not a montesa maybe on the cards

any idea wot size you used to sort this out ive got 118main and 36 pilotjet??? my leg is killing me takes all the fun out of riding!!!

hi can anyone help ive tried all ways to get my bike to start cold or hot!!! fresh petrol!! carb cleaned spotless!! new plug etc?? when it does start by bumpstart it runs lovely but leave it and it wont start by kicking it !! have just replaced the kickstart quadrant and idler guess the guy i had it off wore them out but it kicks over nicely now?guess what it wont start!!! any help appreciated Tony
