  1. Hi there, interested in your post about the carb. Can you tell me anymore about it - the model, price, availability etc? Cheers!
  2. Hi folks, I'm heading up to Oldham at the weekend, taking my bike with me, and I'm looking for info on legal practicing areas in or around Oldham, Rochdale, Huddersfield etc. Any info would be gratefully recieved! Cheers
  3. Hi again Bikespace and thanks for your reply and thoughts and bearing in mind what you suggested here's a bit more info for any likely candidates out there! Ideally I
  4. Hi guys and galls, I'm still in need of an enthusiatic loon to have a go at the dark art of trials sidecars. No experience needed -- you'll be broken in gently but I am looking for someone who'll give it a good go, who is reasonably local or has own transport and someone who is keen to compete. Did post request before Christmas but without much luck and I've been otherwise engaged since with work. Anyway, get mailing!
  5. Thanks for the reply Ishy. Been out on the bike today and had much less trouble starting it all round due to using the kick start technique I found on the video on Sherco USA, gentle prod rather than a big hoof seems to work better. Still had one or two probs though so I'd appreciate it if you could let me know what the correct float level/height is and how best to measure it. Best Regards
  6. Hi everyone, help would be greatly appreciated! Have recently bought a 2005 4T Sherco in exceptional condition and can only say I'm very pleased with the performance and power etc. Lovely smooth bottom end, pulls like a tractor, very tractable with plenty of top end - everything the 290 isn't! This one is actually fun to ride and I had the most fun I've had on a bike for quite a while, so all in all I am very, very pleased. However, (there's always something!), the only down side was that I had problems starting it on a number of occasions which I'll explain here in the hope someone can help me:- 1. If I'd stopped it, (using kill button as advised), or stalled it and it was pointing downhill to any degree it just would not fire up at all. Turn it round and point it up hill and it would fire up second or third kick. Now I can see the answer to this would be obvious but.......................... 2. A section I tried on a number of occasions calls for a shortish blast up a bank, tight turn between trees and a short drop back down on full lock. Bike stalled a number of times when going down the bank and refused to start having done so. Now I realise some of this may be down to my riding technique and not being used to the four stroke differences but it doesn't seem to like being pointed downhill! Any clues as to what might be causing this? Has anyone had any such experiences and how did you resolve the problem? I did wonder about float height or whether float was possibly sticking but uphill ain't a problem and other than this the bike ran perfectly all the time. Any clues or suggestions would be greatfully received. Other than this 'minor' problem I think the bike is awesome! Though it's a 2005 model it has been greatly update and includes 2008 cylinder head, cam, de-compressor, pwk28 carb and 2008 ignition system. No hot start device fitted though I do have it available.
  7. Hi Robin, yup it's me. Hope you are as pleased with yours as I am with mine - it's just fun to ride! Be even better when I get the starting hassles sorted out!
  8. Many Thanks for your very honest and humorous suggestions! I'm actually about to go 320 4t power so if we welded your 290 and your 80 and my 290 and the 320 together we might have a total of, eeerrrr, hang on while I add this up, yep, 980 cc power!! Awesome, should be able to haul a combined weight of, let's see, 30 stone around really well. Yup, I weigh a total of 11 stone so we might have to put a 21" wheel on the chaie to level things up a bit. Regardingthe Hollyoaks bae thingy - no goer I'm afraid, they wouldn't want to get their finger nails dirty, broken, ripped off or stuck in the flesh or thier palms. Wouldn't want to get wet, cold, dirty or bruised either and they certainly wouldn't want to make the butties - no room in the bag what with all the lippy, fake tan and mascara. And there is another problem with your idea too I'm afraid - how can a Hollyoak babe 'man' a sidecar? Are they transexuals in HO? My beloved used to passenger with me but I'm no longer her beloved so it's kinda killed that one dead too, and on account of my beloved no longer loving me, my beloved step-daughter no longer beloves riding either. Such is the nature of relationship breakdowns - bit like a trials bike I guess - great while they are working, totally crap when they break down! Bridge Street on a Saturday on a sidecar? hhmmmmmmm, good way to check out my chaos inducing abilities even further! Take it easy
  9. Seeking yet another passenger - nowt to do with my riding I must add! Must be keen, enthusiastic and dedicated, more important than experience. Local(ish) to Chester an advantage or own transport. Let me know if there's any takers. Cheers
  10. Hi folks, thanks for the info. Any veiws on what to go for brand wise? Or at least what to avoid! I've got a budget of about
  11. Hi folks, just thinking of having a go at this as a way of getting a bit fitter - haven't really ridden since I was a kid - about 30 years ago! Just wondering about the pro's and con's of 20 " wheels against 26" wheels, so any helpful info would be.........well........helpful! I have no dreams of being able to do anything impressive but would like to be able to do some rock hoppin stuff etc etc. Cheers. PS I'm 6.0ft and about 11 stone in old money!
  12. Thanks for the input guys. Going to try backing off the timing first, I'll let ya know what happens! The prob isn't so much the power in itself, more to do with the big way it'll come in at the bottom end. There's nothing smooth about it and it's caught us out big time on more than one ocassion with quite nasty results, and not while necessarily doing anything over ambitious either - just when least expected. I'm gonna stick with the Keihin for now - don't want to alter everything in one go, though by binning it for the standard one I might also gain some mpg as it guzzles fuel like crazy! The reason for the thinking behind the Boysens was simply that I stuck a set in my Mont and loved 'em!
  13. Hi all! Having struggled to come to terms with my 07 290 having moved form an 04 315 Mont I'm wondering if I should have gone for a Beta instead, especially having spent an hour on one on Saturday - Thanks Phil! Bearing in mind the original decision to change from Mont to Sherco was based on a need for increased power to haul our sidecar around it's somewhat ironic to know be looking to make a couple of changes to calm the Sherco down a little! I've looped the thing more times in a matter of weeks than I've looped anything else and both me and my beloved passenger are getting a little disillusioned with the whole shooting match at the moment. Problem seems to be a couple of things - TOTALLY different power delivery and TOTALLY different handling characteristics!!! Anyway before making another mistake by jumping ship and having read the info posted on here I'm planning on backing off the ignition 4/5 mm, just to calm it down a bit - anything to watch out for while doing this? And can anyone advise on the possible jets needed/comment on sticking a set of Boysens in over the stock reeds - currently running the Kehein but have considered going back to standard carb? Bottom end can only be described as 'lumpy' and not at all smooth. Always struck me as being a bit 'four stroky', especially compared to the Mont and now the Beta. Cheers!
  14. Hi there, what time and do we just turn up at venue? Cheers

    Info Please!

Hi folks. I'm thinking of buying a Sherco to replace my ever faithful 2004 Mont as I'd like a bit more power given it's got a hunk of metal and another human bolted on the side, (though I must admit the human is very easily removable!). Looking at a 2006, possibly a 2007 290 and would be interested in anyone's views/experiences regarding performance, reliabilty and build quality. Any major differences in these from a 2006 to a 2007? Anything to watch out for in particular? What's the difference between a 2007 and the Cabestany model? Questions, questions, questions! Any info would be gratefully recieved. Cheers
