El País, the national Spanish newspaper, reported today that Álvaro Bultó the son of Francisco Bultó has been killed in a winged flying accident. He was 51. For 13 years he presented a TV show on Spanish television Frontera limete (boundary limit) a show about adventure sports. Hi guys, I'll try and keep this as concise as possible - I've recently packed in racing motocross after racing for 25 years. I've always been a casual fan of trials and after much deliberation I've decided that it's something I would really like to try my hand at. As a result I'm seeking some info and I'm hoping you may be able to help. 1) I'm based in Northants, generally speaking what is the competition scene like in and around this area? I'm obviously prepared to travel as far as required but generally is the Trials scene strong in the Midlands, South East area? 2) I've raced MX with the AMCA for many years but I get the impression that Trials are not well supported…

I rode in the Shinx LDT yesterday and had a thouroughly brilliant day out. We were on our bikes for seven hours and covered around 90 miles. The 30 sections were all observed and the event was superbly organised by the Cheltenham Home Guard Club. The one issue which I have, is the 'no inspection allowed' rule. Our own LDT, the OK Supreme, has also used this rule in the past but I am now wondering if it is appropriate. On the plus side, it keeps the trial flowing, there are few or no queues and sections can be wider and simpler. But on the negative side it means that you often ride into a section with no idea where you are going and what you are going to be faced with. …

Hi, I've got a Fantic Pro 300 that gradually lost spark, until it would no longer run. The problem appears to be the flywheel, as the magnets have virtually no 'pull' at all. I give up on finding another flywheel, and now wonder if I can 'fix' the magnets. Anyone have any idea if this is possible, and if so, how I could go about it? Any and all advice appreciated!

'Twas the Trials before Christmas, when all through the house There were hopes of new sprockets, from Renthal or Krause; Raptors and X-Lites all fitted with care, Creating new horsepower to hop here and hop there; The children were nestled all snug in their beds, While on Betas and Ossas they played in their heads; And mom in her Hebo shirt and I in No-Fear, Had just settled in for the snooze of the year, When from a four-stroke there arose such a clatter, I thought that it's valve train would soon for sure shatter. With speeds I've not seen, I was sure it would slip, This want-to-be trials bike did a fearsome double blip! I peered out the window to the sectio…

  10. Ive spent my share of time watching film of pre-'65 events. During this time, did most bike start as a road bike rather than being purpose built? What type of modifications were typically made?

My club's running a "conducted" trial for novices early next year - what's a conducted trial? Like a training day I'd guess...? Sorry for the daft question.

I came across this petition on the "Private Pilots" Website PPRUNE. and have linked it from "Pistonheads" for Motor Racing Circuits. I think Trials Riders need to be heard on this as well so Am linking the Petition here as well. Andy, I think this deserves to be a "sticky" here as well. It may be worthwhile passing it though to the Scooby site. This could have saved Addingham. Live with it Lets make it as influential as the "Road Pricing" petition that killed off "pay as you go" motoring.

Occasionally I've noticed some of the more serious competitors making minor "modifications" to sections as they walk the course. Things like removing small branches that might be in the way, kicking rocks out of the way etc. Doesn't worry me in the slightest at the moment as the only person I'm competing against is myself, but I just wondered whether this normal and and if it's lawful?

Hello again everyone, Planning ahead a bit for our first adventure on the new to us bikes. Got some fuel mixed, some semblance of a tool kit and bike stand. What I'm missing I think are spares for on the day. I figured a pair of levers would be one item, but are there any other items we should carry with us routinely on days out? We're just beginners, so we won't be riding hard. Thanks
