apart from the stuff on the shelves that is specific "air filter oil" what else can you use to oil air filters?

Rightly, or probably wrongly, I usually put a little 2-stroke oil on my air filter. I don't think this has caused me any problems, at all. What are the properties of 'proper' air filter oil and do you consider it best to use it? Or is it just another way to get a few quid out of our pockets? Thanks.

I posted this question down the line in another thread, but seems nobody read it! Or Knows? I do believe it worth checking into! Just because it does work! I guess Mr Honda thought the same! I am qurious to know if the same air filter cleaning and oiling products as offered here now by Honda are used there in UK. It is basically the No-Toil products, of water based bio- degradeable, cleaner(powder) and a special high tack oil that is easily emulsified by the cleaner? And easier on the foam filter it seems. I have used it for years now, long before I found it on the shelf at the local Honda shop. The pair of bottles lasts me all year for your = to about 7-8 quid! A …

Just thinking about the general move to 4 strokes - Why are the new generation of bikes water and not air cooled? I would be interested in your thoughts on this.My pros/ cons on air are- Pros -Lightness Cons-Temp control Noise Cost Simplicity Ease of maintence Cost I am sure someone will come up with more to add to either list but IFAIK even temperature is easier to achieve on a 4 stroke due to 50% less firing strokes? Also with good metallurgy / ceramic technology it should be possible to overcome any problems, as to noise, most is due to exhaust note not engine no…

binding front brake is now stripped and cleaned. caliper body looks fine, pistons look good too but seals are now pretty chewed up. does anybody know where to buy just the seals? seems they are 25mm and guessing 2.5 mm thick epdm rubber. thought they would be easy to get but no luck so far. seems mean but its nearly £30 for whole kit with new pistons which i dont need. thanks.

Replacing my levers to day I noticed the brake lever stop store is missing on my montesa. Anyone know what size thread this is? It looks like maybe an m9 but that's a pretty odd ball size. M8 nearly grabs the threads and won't hold the lever in place 10m doesn't fit. Thanks

  20. Hi all, I'm patinting my front AJP caliper and the bolt.holding the caliper wouldn't come out. I ended up using a blow torch to heat the bolt so the damn thing would come out. In doing so I've blown one of the piston seals. Does anyone know where I can buy an AJP 4 pot piston seal without having to buy a full repair kit? I've been googling 25mm piston seal and I'm not too confident it will be the right seal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Fully understand that I shouldn't take blow tourches to things lol, my impact driver is in the post.
