Featured Replies

After cleaning the airfilter what can i use to oil it

i've seen specific sprays but can i use something like

WD40 or can you suggest something else

apologies in advance

im new to all this

Use a good filter spray like PJ1. Spray it onto a clean filter, work it in and it will go tacky, this will stop fine dust and to some extent water passing through the filter.

Like Tony stated use a good air cleaner oil designed for foam filters. Some oils are designed for paper, cotton elements.

Some other tips are to spray the oil into the inside of the filter and to work it in. Inside meaning the side that is open to outside air.

I also run a very light coat of grease around the edge of my filters to help the filter stay in place better during assembly and to create a better seal to keep dust out.

Something that is done alot on enduro bikes.

I picked up 2 large cans of Silkolene filter spray oil on E-bay for

I should have mentioned on my last post not to over do the oil. You just want enough to help filter the dust out and not risk dripping into

intake causing a rich ( oil to fuel) condition

I get the oil filter oil in a can and work all the way through and squeeze excess oil out do two at once and theres one ready to swap.

Oil filter spray is a must and the filter cleaner, it dissolves that sticky oil real good. And Nigel is right have 2 filters and your ready for the next day.
