General Trials Talk

General discussion on the sport of Observed Motorcycle Trials

Hi, I have a 2005 Raga Rep 300, Its stuck in 4th gear! It will go up gears but will not engage third properly on the way down. The lever seems stiffer than normal and does not seem to be as slick as normal however, it does seem like the spring to return it is working yet it is stiff in use. I have changed the gbox oil and it has made no difference. Is there anything else I can do before I strip the bugger down? If a strip is required is it going to be out the frame and gbox out or can I resolve the matter whilst motor in the frame and if so how? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks P.s. Anyone ride near the Newport area of South Wales?

How can we say our sport is not growing ? just look at the user count on this board ! since I've been here there are 4800 + new members , and alot of them hang on .... The event I rode last weekend had alot of interested spectators of all ages ... All seemed to be keen on the point of it being a competition and not a "race" .... Let's pick the ball back up from when it was dropped in the mid 70's and show all of motorcycledom what a fine sport trials IS !!!! And it at all levels is a family freindly pastime... Bored, waiting for paint to dry !.!.!. , Glenn

Came accross this video of Narita whilst looking at his SY200 video. Just playing for the camera on a Techno with some amazing riding. What's nice about it is that there is very little stopping and hopping, it's all action and the way he hits some of the rock sequences no stop as opposed to breaking them down individually is pretty spectacular. The flow of rider and bike is brilliant. Don't know if it's been posted before, never seen it if it has, but entertaining stuff. Narita - youtube

Hi all: Recently a small village in Leon province (north-western Spain) called Pobladura de la Regueras, has declared a huge area as a "free trials land" for the next 30 years. And the use of that land is for FREE. The place is really a trials paradise, mountains, rivers, forests.... where you can ride your trials bike for free. In this site Spanish Champinoships, both modern and classic have a round, and is one of the nicest trials in the calendar. They have marked a route through the mountains of arround 12 km. and also marked some areas where you can set your sections for practicing. In todotrial.com there has been a nice report about this place: http://www.todotri…

I see to often and hear of Trials bikes stolen and wonder if the Clubs or ACU could play a part to help in some form. Maybe you have to proved and prove youre frame number when joining a club or part of obtaining a ACU licence which must be amended on change of bike. I know alot end up in rivers after a thrashing by scum but i have seen the police turn up at events and remove bikes. Just seems ashame to see someones hard earnt cash go and some one even buy a stolen bike unknown to them.

  7. Hi My rear tyre seem's to have a section that is out of shape. The bike has sat for a while with the wheel flat will this have caused permanent damage to the tyre? Marty

I'm completely new to trials and I'm looking for my 1st bike. As a fairly big guy - 250lbs, 6'1" - I'm thinking I would need a larger bike. However a friend of mine said that as a novice, I'd find a small bike much easier to ride and handle and suggested that I start with something like a 125. Is this crazy or is my buddy right? Would a good 125 really be able to haul me thru a section? Or should I shoot for something like a 250 - 300?

Just returned from a great weekend at hawkstone park for the 8th round of the World Trials Championship. It was amazing, the sections were awesome and didnt look possible to ride the greasy rocky steps i was gob smacked to witness what the riders were getting up. last year was awesome but L & M have gone event bigger this year! I really enjoyed it on both days with colley and dabill doing demos during the day and watchin the legends (saunders, colomer, bilbao, poans, couldnt remeber all the name im sure someone will tell you on the replies) Sorry Andy for not turning up to the TC tent was going to come over after finishing playing on my monty but went back to my tent…

  16. I have a Sammy Miller (BJ Racing) fiberglass gastank/seat unit for my Yamaha TY. The inside of the tank is starting to blister, peel, and chip. I am not certain whether the inside had been previously coated or not. It's either a previous coating becoming undone, or perhaps the fiberglass itself peeling and blistering. I would guess it's more likely a previous coating that is coming undone, but am not certain. Anyway, I want to recoat the inside of the tank. It appears as though some people recommend NOT using Kreem. A search of the web has revealed a lot of differing recommendations for products and methods, but most of these recommendations came from people who we…
