has anyone every tried a moto-x tyre on a trials bike? as the nobbles on a trials tyre are so close together, when its muddy, they are just like a slick, where as moto-x tyres have bigger nobbles, and they are futher apart, so they tend not to get caked with mud as much......... they are also

I have talked about this on the forums before i think. I have narrowed it down to 3 bikes. The montesa 4rt 260 cota, 2016 sherco 300 and the vertigo combat camo. All are excellent bikes. The problem is O cant decide on which one to go for. When i test rode the vertigo i thought it was great. I felt like I could do very good on it. The sherco I felt a bit unsure it didn't seem to ride as nice as I thought it would. But I still feel that I could do good on it. The montesa I thought rode great but i am worried it may effect my results. For example I am worried about the extra weight. I feel that the montesa would be the more fun to ride but I am worried about it effecting m…

Just wondering… What’s the big deal with Beta Evo 250’s? I’ve gone through a few bikes in recent years and am currently just riding my Twinshock, I don’t have a modern bike right now. Modern bikes, I’ve had a Beta Evo 200, Gas Gas 250, TRS 250RR, all only a couple of years old, all with bits I liked, bits I didn’t. I’m quite happy riding twinshock for the most part but might buy another modern for using when appropriate. One thing, it was not uncommon to be asked ‘why didn’t you buy a Beta?’, as if it’s the obvious choice. When I had my 200 I found the clutch needed messing around with constantly to stop it sticking and I preferred the handling on the Gas Gas. …

Just recently bought myself a new sherco 300, lovely bike and today was my second time out on it but was founding really badly when it came to grip, just couldn't feel anything. Fives all over the place by not getting any grip through the muddy parts, that everyone else was easily coasting through... On my gasser I could feel the grip coming on and was able to throttle accordingly but today, nothing, ziltch, couldn't feel a thing....what's up ???

Hi Folks, the place where I ride is very muddy at the moment. I, as an off road novice, find the mud very disconcerting. Is there a technique for dealing with mud? Am I doing it right by just (trying) to relax my grip and just constantly correcting the steering as it slews left to right? I tend to let the speed drop right off but I've read about crossers and Paris-Dakar types going faster in these situations to dig in the rear and lift the front out but I have a mental block about trying this particular technique. What sort of tyre pressures should I be running? Bear in mind that I'm just learning/trying and not competing. That lot should keep you …

That said to buy 5 ltrs but what and where do I buy it from. I've had the bikes out twice now so am I correct in changing it ever couple of outings or am I being a bit anal changing it that often. Thanks in advance.

G'day all, I've currently got myself a set of the Medium compound Renthal trials grips and curiosity has got me pondering what I'm potentially missing out on with the 2 other compounds. Has anyone used any 2 or all 3 of them and can comment on the differences between them? Feeling, impact resistance, wear and tear? Bonus question: For a new riders would a softer grip be better to reduce impacts from bad form?

I need to get my head round why the likes of trials UK and others on here state that to calm a bike down, you can DOWN tooth the front sprocket ? Yes, I know there are various other ways also, but specifically this route ? Coming from a road riding perspective, as I do, and fairly new to trials, this flies in the face of what happens with road/track/race bikes. Can anyone give me an explanation to this.

Are there any adults out there riding a new(ish) 125? Just looking at getting a new bike and am curious about this new breed of more powerful 125's.... About 10 odd years ago, I switched from a 270 gasser to one of the 160's and had great fun with it!! It's been about 3 years since I've been out and from what I can gather the 07/08 125's are supposed to be more a more reasonable adult ride nowadays?? Any opinions or experience?
