Hi all Just bought an 02 Gas Gas TXT280 Pro. Wondering what type of 2 stroke oil everyone is running in their bikes. The previous owner used Bel-Ray H1-R at 100:1. A lot of KTM guys I know are running Mobil MX2T because its readily available at Auto Zone and is also a good deal. Seems to work well also. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

We all expect a new 4-stroke form Montesa for 2005, what about all the others? Are we now gonna have Fantic and Ossa in the competition? Will be interesting!

Just wondering what's the most popular bike in different areas of the country at the moment 'cos 'round here (NE Yorks), you can't move at a trial without tripping over a Beta! All of the dealers in the area are multi-franchise, so it's not just a case of people buying what's easily available and serviceable locally. I've spoken to one dealer about this phenomenon and while remaining pretty neutral did confirm that for him at least, Betas outsell all other new bikes 3 to 1. For the *average clubman*, all modern machinery is going to be far more capable than the rider, and it's therefore more a combination of personal brand loyalty and preference (ergos etc.) than raw per…

I currently ride a GG 320 1997 with a 2-piston front brake (which is the stock setup). I wish to upgrade it for something more performant. After shopping around it seems I have the choice of: - AJP 4-piston (cheapest) - Galfer 4-piston (more expensive) - Gas Gas 4-piston (from the more recent models, what year would fit?, price?) And that brings the questions: will I be able to keep the same master cylinder/lever assembly? Will I be able to re-use the same line and fitting? If anyone has a recommendation on that topic, let me know. Hugo

I ran my bike down the road about a mile at 25 mph (~40.234 kph) and back to warm it up before changing the oil. By the time I got back the front brakes had heated up and nearly brought the bike to a stop. The brake lever would not compress and the disk had started to turn blue. These are one year old APJ's. I loosened the lever to make sure that the piston had full range. I changed the brake fluid after the brakes cooled and things went back to working. The shoes are not worn. This may have happened before as I smelled something getting hot after riding the trail to a new section. The bike sat long enough for the brakes to cool before riding the section. I didn…

Just finished watching the Barcelona round on M&M and watching Adam Raga's celebration at the end of sticking a rocket to the fender and wheelieing it around the arena...and then he just jumps off the bike and lets it crash. How come none of them ever fail when celebrating? I've never seen any rider flip it or anything when pulling a massive wheelie around the arena...have you? HRC

I thought it was interesting that the counter registered almost 1600 views when I checked it out. I didn't think there were that many trials riders on Earth.

After trying to find some hebo prices in the UK, I came across GasGasUK, which I have visited on many occasions, but have never looked around. I came across this which is an online parts manual, you can easily, by the movement of a mouse, get the part number and discription of the part you are looking for/at. Very handy, and good if you are stripping something down. I have also noticed the Sherco do this also, and maybe Beta/Scorpa etc etc? Why not Montesa? With a company in trials as big as they are, I would have thought they would have dished out for an online manual of some sort... I have just read the four suspension articles that appeared on this site a while ago. I'd forgotten about them at the time and only just found them again. They are great but seem to finish before the really interesting bit starts. Springs are covered in great detail but dampers are not covered. Does anyone know who wrote the articles? I'd love to find out if there are still more to come or if I'm going to be left wanting.

I live in Highland of scotland, mainly rocks with muddy blasts!!, banks, which tyre give the best grip in these types of sections and has the longest life(tread)?? cheers chris

I've been racking my brains all morning on this one. On a Gas Gas 280 pro raga replica, there is just too much top end power, what i mean is from nothing to 2/3 throttle the power is fine, nice and linear, offering plenty of manageable grip, the problem starts when using the top end, last 3rd of the throttle, the power seems very lumpy, it tends to come in all of a sudden, very good for dry conditions but not good for slippery english sections. I am running out of ideas, we dont want to alter the bottom end at all, but there seems to be no way of softening the top end without the bottom. ANY IDEAS? lowering compression, reed valve, carburation is good, base gasket/head…

Can someone tell me the difference between trials and mx or enduro clothing. Does anyone use mx pants and if not why.

I bought some new filter oil and followed the instruction to the letter Its `Putoline Action Fluid` now that i`ve come to clean it off my filter,it wont clean off properly. I`ve tried hand washing with washing up liquid(the one that keeps your hands as soft as your face ) and then putting it in the washing machine on its own but its still got a tacky residue and dark blue streaks in did it have to much fluid on in the 1st place ? if so what would be the running symptoms of having to much filter oil if any?
