General Trials Talk

General discussion on the sport of Observed Motorcycle Trials

  1. My mate is after a bike and there is a number for sale saying done SSDT. He thinks they get thrashed to hell and are knackered after the event. I think differently and they should be ok. Whats the verdict on this ?

Hi All, I just had to throw this point into and open discussion ... just for a laugh I was amused with a comment in an advertisement (on Trials Australia) for the Melbourne Motorcycle Show last week. It it suggested (in jest) that motorbike owners may not be interested in going to a SEXPO next door to the show. But on the flip-side my wife once read (in one of her women's magazines) that men will often turn to activities like motorcycle sports when they are not getting enough "activity" at home (if you know what I mean). So just for a laugh I'd thought I'd mix these points up and throw them open to discussion? .... Would motorbike riders go to the Sexpo regardless of…

I have just found a tear in the side wall of my rear tyre and being new to the game I wasn't sure what tyre to get. So having looked at the recent poll on tyres it seems the ICR (currently what's on) and the x 11 are by far the most popular, however, I'm interested to know why no one has picked the pirelli tyre ?? As I say, it's all fairly new to me but what is it with Pirelli ??? They make fantastic road tyres

You can spend hundreds of pounds servicing your bike but it usually feels exactly the same afterwards (and sometimes worse!!) However for the first time in my life I feel like its money well spent. My bike is only 6 months old but after a new chain and sprockets (renthal) and new bearings on either side. the bike feels alot smoother and quicker, I cant beleive the difference, just goes to show how sometimes, your bike may feel fine but in actual fact, it has been slowly getting worse over time, so slowly that you never even noticed! Looking forward to a lenghthy ride tomorrow. big thanks to everyone who gave me advice on changing the bearings. All the best Tom

I have already managed to burn my leg at header of my gasgas 300 txt when I was riding in short pants so I thought I will wrap in thermal tape to isolate it, any issues with that?

Hi there, After 3 months away from the bike due to a broken scaphoid in my left wrist I am hopefully going to get my pot off and do my first trial on sunday. I know this is a common problem for riders and I was going to invest in a really good wrist support, so anyone had any experiences or know where I should look for one? Oh and if you are doing the BSSA trial on sunday you had better watch out Cheers

  7. Started by brightmix,

Hi all. Unfortunately, my left wrist is in plaster after breaking my scaphoid bone a few weeks ago. I am unable to ride until mid October at the earliest and I am wondering if anyone knows of a suitable wrist protector that will allow me some movement but will protect the wrist from sudden jolts. Something that is protective, but resonably unrestrictive. Any suggestions/recommendations?

  8. Started by Restrictedjase,

I have been doing some trials / green lanes for the past fiour years howeber three months ago had a slow off but smashed my left wrist up still nowhere near fixed after three operations, wires now out and hopefully looking to get back out in the new year 2022. This years DVD is a lot better than last. I say this about the commentory and film footage - in general its a lot more comprehensive, but its still not as good a Trials TV (but not far short). One really noticable thing that caught my eyewas the 4rt. Last year Dougie/Fuji would rev the guts out of their bikes having the valves smacking the piston before take off. This year the 4rt as visibly more powerful and some of the big rock climbs the 4rt was a lot better than Raga on his 2t. I can't wait to see how Bou gets on with the bike.

What's the news for next year are all the riders staying put ? From a UK point of view we know that Brown has resigned for Gas Gas but as far as I know there have been no other announcements. I Guess the top 4 in the WTC signed a while ago but with new manufacturers starting up maybe there is about to be some activity on the transfer front ? Spill the beans someone

Seeing the drop offs they do, i feel safe to say they use different suspension. Who knows what they have different to ours? Heavier springs, progressive springs, heavier valving, different pistons rebound and compression etc. When i drop of 3 feet i bottom my suspension.

Hi ! After an absence of 12 years I decided to start riding again, so I am piecing together my kit once more. Does anyone have any comments on Wulfsport clothing ? (Trousers, shirt and Jackets). Compared to some trial clothing they seem value for money but I haven't seen anyone wearing any. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. RevRider

  18. Started by social climber,

I just bought one of these before I entered the Sandown trial outside belfast on 20th of March. It was a horrendous day, really windy and wet, but the jacket kept me dry and relatively draught free ( I say relatively cos it was windy enough to blow the visor clean off my helmet, I was bound to get a draught from somewhere. These jackets are made of a medium weight cordura so they are not too heavy, and look like they will take a lot of punishment. They have a mesh lining for comfort and two poppered pockets ( not very secure though...) and I found it had more than enough freedom of movement for riding the sections. I would even ride an enduro in this cos it's cut quite …
