  1. Hi folks, New to the forum pages and finding my way around this site - and about to buy a Beta Evo 250 2T. I'm a very novice trials rider; I bought a 2012 Beta Evo a few years ago (turning 40 years old and wanted to try a motorcycle discipline I'd not done before) but went to work overseas and sold it - only had it maybe 12 months. I did a few events in the Cheshire area where I lived at the time and quite enjoyed it. I have since relocated home to the Redditch / Bromsgrove area and keen to find local training grounds, trials club etc to occupy me when I'm not green laning / working. I am not really familiar with the Worcestershire area so if…

Hi! Fred here! My friend in N/Z rode the pipeline in 1964, but John Moffat says it was not used until 67. Alan Chant, he being the person who got soaked, as well as a 1st class award, seems to remember different. Comp No 216 on 410 cc Matchless. He’s a man of few words, but this is irritating him! Any help welcomed!

Hello, I'm new to trials, starting out with a 2016 Beta Evo 250. Did the clutch mod and ordered some boots, and other than that just spending a lot of time riding in the field getting used to the bike.

Hi, I'm Rebekah and my friend Luke (Sacramento PITS member) recommended this site. I've been street riding for 12 years and dirt biking for about four. I race (novice) both desert and woods. At 5'4 my greatest limitation is my height, but in general I do pretty well. So how did I end up here? My bf and I recently borrowed a friends Beta Evo - probably a 2011 or 2012. We've done some drills on it but I wasn't super impressed. We went to a group camp/ride weekend a week ago and Luke brought his 2021 Scorpa 300 (Factory I think). Wow - the difference felt night and day in terms of clutch ease and nimbleness. We practiced 6' circle turns, which I was able to manage …

I have been sitting on the fence ever since seeing the intro of the Montesa 260 at the Toronto Motorcycle Show. Finally jumped in with both feet and bought a mint 2016 260RT. Only gone through 2 tankfuls so far on the trails around our place, but what a machine. It just walks up slippery muddy slopes with ease and is so nimble compared to the GS 1250 I had at Clinton Smout’s 2 day course (highly recommended BTW) 2 years ago. I am wondering if there are any trials courses close to Port Perry On. Riding extremely slow is really really hard. Lol Hope to meet everyone at events next year and glad to be a member.

After a long gap, back with a Cota200 to fool about on and restore. I had a Montesa Cota 247 for a long time, sold it to a friend who restored it to this:-

Hi there, Brand new here and completely new to trials. Been riding bikes for many years, but discovered I have a trial club just couple miles from home. Went there, met nice people, schedulled test ride. I feel that this may be a beginning of something very interesting for me. I feel that I'll be buying a new bike quite soon.. and some cheap van to carry it.

Hi All I am new to trials after not riding for 25 years, I am looking at buying a bike and people I have spoken to are saying bikes are overpriced at the moment due to Covid. What are your thoughts? Should I wait to buy a bike and are the prices higher than usual? Many thanks.

Good evening everyone, having been absent from trials since the 90's, I decided to get back into it with classics of my era. I've plodded on a gas gas JTR recently, but decided to dig out my old Ossa. As you see she needs a total restoration job, but before I start I want to find out exactly what it is. The frame/engine numbers match suggesting a 79 TR 77 250cc. However there are a few issues. The lugs for the rear suspension look like they were cut and lowered! The front end may be wrong, check out the yokes, wheel etc. Other than that no spark, but the lump feels good. Would like to fire it up to listen to it. I've a pair of lovely gold wheels for it but is it what it s…

  15. Good afternoon all, I have just managed to locate a trials bike and am getting back into the sport since leaving the UK some time ago. Originally from Reading but have been living in Dubai for about 15 years now. I love just about any form of bike and really cant wait to get some of the old trials skills back.

Hello to u all. With knees that not really like mx and missing some enduro skills started doing trial. We are pretty serious (my girlfriend is also in it) We are from the Netherlands. I hope to try to come as far that is possible for me. We practice once or twice a week and soon I have my first contest. Being stubborn ofcourse not listened that good to other people what bike we should buy. So now whe have a shed full. My girlfriend ended on a 125cc Beta Evo and I ended in a 300cc Vertigo Combat.

Hello, Being my 1st post here, I should talk about my trials bike. Unfortunately, I may not have one. At least an original factory built example. I have a 1957 AJS 18CS. It doesn't run yet. I have asked all this over on the AJS site. If the Competition Dept at AJS ever built a 500cc Trials. It seems from factory literature (brochure) they weren't offered. I haven't gotten a definite answer yet. I thought I would ask the question here as this is a Trials dedicated site where the AJS site is not as much about Trials. A lot of my searching for Trials info has brought me here. Some of the old timers here may remember, one way or another if a 1957 AJS 18CS was ever factor…

Greetings all, I've been lurking and realized I hadn't said hello so here goes. I'm John French and live in NC USA, I've been riding trials since about 1990 (I'm 61) and currently have about 5 or 6 (or 7) trials bikes. My modern bike is a 2016 Montesa 4RT 260 and in order of next oldest they are 1985 RTl250 Honda, 1980 199A Bultaco, 1977 Ty250D Yam, 1975 Tl125 Honda, 1966 Triumph Cub and a '61 G3C Matchless. G3C is too nice to ride in dirt so I had to buy another that I can crash in a section and not cry too much. It's still very much a project so it will be a while before that one sees a trial. I have my own small shop so I can do most tasks myself. I'…
