Ay up. So after never ridden a motorbike off road. I have decided trialing a twin shock may be fun. So I collected a very special Yamaha TY175 Whitehawk last Thursday from South Wales. Im off to watch my first trial with the Midlands Classic MCC on new years day. Be prepared for my stupid questions. Wish me luck.

Hi there Just starting to look at trials bikes with a view to doing a few events and generally playing about. Been riding enduro's for 3 years or so and have always fancied a shot at trials. There are also a lot more events closer to where I live compared to enduro. Currently in the market for a bike and if anyone has one or a suggestion as to what would be a good beginners bike then let me know. Cheers for now. Stu

Hi everyone, well here goes... in a few weeks you will all be smiling at another "old fart" attempting trials... well its not quite true, you see i competed regularly in the 1980's, but in 1987 my first son came along and that ended my trials career... in recent years I've been playing at landrover trials, and i have a few trophies to show for it. Landrovers are getting expensive, and believe it or not, my missus is nagging me to go back to bikes... she always loved going to trials, apparently. so here I am, about to get muddy again at 50 years old.... God i'm mad.. My last bike was an Aprilia TL310 hiro.... the next one is still to be purchased, but i'm tempted by a…

Greetings from the foothills of California. New to trials (been riding dirt/street 40 yrs) and after riding a friends trial bike, I've been bitten. Been watching Toni Bou videos and figure I can at least start my bike as well as him, but that is where it would end. Have rocks on my place that beg to be ridden on so figured I'd have built in practice area. Might get a friend's backhoe over to roll some rocks and obstacles together to built up more challenges at I improve. Looking to get a good starter bike, might trade a DRZ400S for one if the deal works. Suggestions welcome on what to get. Thanks for this forum which has a wealth of knowledge, now to just get throu…

Hi there everyone I'm lewis 24 from bristol I'm looking into getting my first trials bike. I have absolutely no experience what so ever so should be good fun learning, I'm hoping to build my kit up slowly so far I've got my bike rack ready for my tow bar I'm also looking at a jitsie radical helmet for £40 on eBay and also a xc- ting suit for £50 anybody own any of these are they any good? I'm hoping someone local can recommend some practice areas I can learn (embarrass myself) and maybe teach me the basics to get me started. Also will be on the look out for a cheap starter bike in a month or two hopfully if anyone is thinking of selling soon.

Hi all, Newbie from East Sussex here. Just joined to find out how the trials world has changed from 20 years ago. That was when I eas last riding. Looking to get back into it, not sure what bike to get as they have changed so much but look like they are much better due to being a lot lighter. Any recommendations...? Thanks chip

Hi, I’m keen to get started on some gentle trials. I’m in Aberdeenshire and have always fancied it, and realise it’s now or never as I get older. I’m budgeting on circa £1k for a used Beta or Gas Gas. Any buying advice appreciated and any more general advice also welcomed. Hope I’m not too old. I had a Fantic when I was 19 and have been a MTBer over the years, so like to think I’ll at least have some sense of balance and technique, but mainly I just want to have some fun and give it a go. Also any advice on basic kit welcomed. Graham

Hi all, my names justin, and I'm new to trials. I'm thinking about having a go, and am interested in the classic and twinshock side of things. I'd love some advice from anyone as to the do's and dont's with trying and buying. I can see that there's loads of nice bikes out there ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand pounds. I've looked at Beamish, ossa mar and gripper, bultaco sherpa, montesa 247, etc etc. I've had road bikes most of my life, but last year ended up with 12 points so sold my last bike! I miss riding loads, and I fancy a go at something new. Would really appreciate some advice from anyone.

Hi all. New to trials and there seems a lot to learn and there is a tonne of info on here that may take a while to chug through.... Strangest thing I have learned so far is that parts are easier to find for an old Fantic than for a 2000 Beta 250 Evo3, especially rear mud guards!! Anyway I am torn between three starter bikes. Honda TL125, Fantic 200 and a Yamaha TY250 - all vgc. Anyone have any views, hoping to view the Fantic at the weekend. Looking just to play about at the moment to see if I really like it and also to ride with my son on his Oset. Thanks all!

Hi All, The names John (42yrs) and I've been riding road bikes for 20+ years and currently ride a YZ250 in Junior Motocross and Club-man level Enduro. I've just taken the plunge and purchased a 2004 Sherco 290 with a view to getting access to more ride time and improving my general bike control and balance. Right now I've been reading the site for tips and general how to for the mechanical side of things and will soon be delving into the techniques side of things. So far I've not ridden the bike but will be aiming to do so ASAP. I'll probably be asking silly questions so I apologise now and beg your pardon. Any tips for a total newbe? Regards John

Morning all, I can no longer ignore the stirrings deep within that insist that I once again spend my weekends up to my armpits in mud. I find I'm eating the skins of my jacket potatoes and scrubbing them less, I'm volunteering to help the current Mrs Jayzee with the gardening as long as I can fondle the mud, and seem to 'accidentally' trip and fall face first in the mud more often than is reasonable when I'm walking the dogs... ...it can only be the call of the observed section. The mud, it seems, is beckoning me back in! So, who am I? I'm a 40+ bloke from the Cambridge, UK area that has never really grown up. I have been a motorcyclist since my early teens and own an …
