  1. Started by harvs,

Hi all, Harv's here! Was well into Trials as a youngster, but sold my bike in my early teens (was a TY 175 minter). 30 now and picked up a 2001 Montesa Cota with the view to get back into things. Not been out to many time yet as I only got the bike couple months ago, but absolutely loving it again. Anyways, hoping to get involved more in the forum, so will hopefully see you around! H

Greetings All, I'm a Brit living in France near to Niort in the Deux Sevres (not far from La Rochelle). I've been away from biking for 25 years, as you do, and got back into this year with a BMW 1150RT and a Yamaha WR250F. I've just come back from a dirt ride adventure around Kazakhstan, which was awesome. I used to have a Fantic 200 and did some competition but wasn't any good - I once got my bike stuck high up in a tree! Lured by the name again, I bought a 1997 Fantic 250, which has turned out to be tired and used and costing to get it running properly but I am learning more about mechanics which is what I wanted. So, I am hoping for some advice and company on here…

Bonjour à tous ! I discovered this forum by chance yesterday! I normally ride a 1955 Motobecane here in the south of France. By chance, I found a 1978 Bultaco Alpina for sale locally. I bought it a couple of days ago! Now for a little restoration project over the next few weeks. Then to get out trail riding, and enjoy my new bike. Hope to be an active member here on the Forum.

  6. Started by bigplonker,

Er, just joined. So, apparently, the next step is to introduce myself... Well, I'm an old (60!) trials fart who used to wobble around in the SE Centre as a member of the Sunbeam Club, most recently on a 250 Greeves (but before that, various Bultacos, a Jim Susans HT5 Ariel, etc., etc.,). Then, last year, I emigrated to France. Having sold my Greeves before moving, I then found myself trials-bike-less for the first time in about forty years. Suddenly realising that life was hardly worth living without a trials bike, I started looking around... Spotted a mint 250 RTL Honda on French eBay going for about five grand. Tempting, but decided it was a bit pricey and it'd be a sh…

Hi, Davidp92 from Belfast here. Driving to Dublin tomorrow to pick up a Yamaha TYZ250. Sold my Montesa 348 after 10 years of fun in 1995. Bought my 8 yr old son a gas gas 50 last year and realised he needs a pal to ride with if he's going to pick anything up. Couldn't afford to buy one for myself however and then.......a friend from Cork gave me his bike as he wasn't using it. Thanks Donagh. Looking forward to getting back in the saddle (or out of the saddle actually as it is trials.) Been riding road bikes in the meantime. Anyone know where to ride around Belfast (I live beside Cavehill but I believe people aren't happy if you ride on the mountain any more!)

Hi All Only during the last few weeks have I decided to build a pre 65 Trials machine, I'm a fat old pensioner but once was a decent enough rider, but I am an engineer and need to play with bikes, so Hello from South Leicestershire/ Warwickshire, previously from the Peak District. Hi All

  13. Started by painter,

I'm more of a pavement track guy and street rider, but I'm getting older and probably should find a slower means to get my kicks. The pavement is getting harder as I age, and I fall off occaisionally. I was just given a 1972 Montesa Cota 123...yeah I know parts are scarce and I'll have to re-wheel it, but I have nothing invested so far except for a parts manual. I've never ridden trials, and have very little dirt experience, but I'm looking forward to getting it going and having some fun with it. I'll head over to the Montesa forum and see if I can get some sage advice. Cheers, Nate

Greetings all, Newbie here. I've always admired the sport of trials, but never even imagined getting into it myself until Fortnine's video on the subject came out a couple years ago. That video struck a spark, and meeting local officials and getting to try balancing on a trials bike at the MP2024 motorcycle expo in February lit the flame. I found myself watching more and more videos on trials, drooling at a very cool Beta Techno for sale and doing more and more research, until one day I was doing a road trip to Porvoo with my 125cc scooter in tow to trade in for that Techno! For want of stiffer springs to suit my weight, proper boots and a tow bar for my car, …

  15. Hi all my name is stuart and i have been riding bikes since i was 5 im no stranger to super moto's, enduros and sports and naked road bikes but trial biking is completely new to me. After a nasty scare on my super moto a few months ago ( relating to the bike taking a horizontal lie down with me on it) i have decided to sell my much loved toy, and try and find another expensive, adrenaline filled, slightly slower way of fun to take up my free time and to meet some interesting people along the way. My bike will be for sale shortly after a few problems have been ironed out, so i will be on the hunt for a bike,,, what bike to get ?????????? im 6ft2 and average build. i was he…

Hi Guys, totally new to the sport. I have a RE cafe racer and a RE Himalayan, but I fancy something a little different that looks to be great fun. I’ve booked an all day trials experience in a few weeks and can’t wait. If all goes well I’ll be looking for a bike. I’ve seen the tow bar attachments for transporting the bikes. Are these adequate for transportation? It seems like a lot of weight on the tow bar... ? If so, can anyone recommend a quality brand? Thanks Guys.

Hello All, Just started the sport! Went to an experience day (tricks in the sticks) and really enjoyed it. Such a nice contrast compared to trackdays. Just bought a Beta Rev 3 270cc (arrived last Friday) and a towbar carrier, and now ready to get started. I'm in North London - near Enfield, and welcome any advice; practice areas, maintaining the bike, clubs etc.

New guy from British Columbia Canada. I have been OBSESSED with trials motorcycles since unknowingly "trying" one last X-mas. I was immediately HOOKED and began scouring for a nice used bike. One year, HUNDREDS of hours riding and 3 bikes later I am still in LOVE and ride a 2010 GG 280. I live in Burnaby B.C. and ride A LOT at Ioco, Cowichan Valley, Southern Okanagan and whenever I can up at Pemberton. I prefer long technical trail riding, mountains, back country and getting out into the middle of nowhere in small groups but also very much enjoy observed and practiced riding also. Seems here in BC we have such a HUGE diversity and availability of outstanding terrain.…
