Hi all, I'm new to the forum and also new to trials riding. In fact I'm yet to try it, hence why I'm here! I'm based in North Tyneside (near Newcastle upon Tyne) and I'm looking for some advice/guidance on how to get started, local clubs, tuition, bikes, gear etc. Been road riding for about 2 years now but would love to give trials a go. Anyone that could help point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Just bought my first motorbike having had a training day at Earl Shilton with Dave. Great training and everyone I talked to clearly enjoyed it all. Looking forward to advancing with plenty of practice. Already spent a fair bit of time on here picking up tips on everything from Maintenance to places to ride, and I sure will be on here even more in the future. May be a few months before I enter my first trial!! Alex

Just purchased Montesa Cota 200 with engine/frame number 29M02572. I'd appreciate any help in finding out year of manufacture and what the actual numbers/letter(s) mean. Many thanks in advance.

Hi, I am embarking on a rebuild of my son's Montesa Cato 247: Engine & Frame number 21M22865,making it manufactured between October 1976 & March 1977. I have a question about the swing arm. The bike is fitted with a standard swing arm but I'd prefer to fit a longer one for trials use. My question is where could I source one or alternaticvely how much longer is a trial SA so I could consider lengthening the standard one. Thanks

Hi All New member just signed up. I've been using this site as a guest for long enough so thought I ought to sign up. When I retired a few years ago I decided I was too old for bikes so sold bike and all my odds and ends. Few years on and bored I yielded to ebay temptation and bought myself an absolute wreck of a Bultaco 250, 198A for not much money. Having great fun working on it even if by the time I've finished it wont be a cheap option! Always fancied a trials bike, lean and functional that's how I like them. Now we are all on lockdown my wife is even glad to get rid of me for most of the day in the garage. Biggest issue with the bike is undoing the handiwor…

Just registered with triials central. Complete trials beginner. I have visited two trials recently, Lancs one near Wray and today near Sedburgh which was a classic event. Where do I start? I have some off road experiance riding a Yam TTR250 with local TRF club but I am no expert. I guess I first need to join either Westmoreland or Lanc MCC. Then a bike! fairly confused on which one- modern or twinshock? I think no bigger than 250 2 or 4 stroke?. At todays classic the Yam TY 175 or 250 seemed a possible choice but should I be going for a more modern machine? I am a 50 years young so I need to make a sensible/correct choice!

Morning everyone, Finally bought my boy his first trials bike, it is his Christmas present! Poor boy has had a helmet, boots and gloves for nigh on six months, has looked at several heaps but finally found what we wanted in budget. So we have brought it home and given it a visual once over, blind leading the blind as far as modern bikes go. My history was a Montesa Cota 247, mooching around our woods and having fun. Right shin to match the kick start! There are cosmetic's to do, swinging arm bearings to replace and fit a kill switch for a newbee. We have also noticed the thermostat has been removed and a multi fit fan fitted. So we have a few questions, mos…

Hi there, I have just recently bought a Triumph Tiger cub trials and when I got to the seller's place, he had a Dalesman 125 sitting in the corner. Really liked it so I brought it home. He said that it had been sitting a while. Changed the fuel and plug but can't get her to go. There is a bit of a spark. Any one got any ideas. How do you get the flywheel off. Scary!

Hi I am new to this forum and I don't know what I doing and hope I am in the correct section !! If not well there you go . I got myself a Montesa Cota 247 and know next to nothing about trials / trail / dirt / 2 stroke bikes . I may annoy you a bit asking simple questions to you but I will be lost . I am doing the front forks now and I have been told 200 ml of 10 wt oil . There was 150 ml in each leg when I emtied them out so I am taking notice of a comment on this forum of 200 ml and 10 wt oil . I suspect that the crank seal's need doing so when I get to that stage I will be yelling out " HELP ME PLEASE " I am in Sydney Australia so maybe there is some one close to …

Good evening everyone, having been absent from trials since the 90's, I decided to get back into it with classics of my era. I've plodded on a gas gas JTR recently, but decided to dig out my old Ossa. As you see she needs a total restoration job, but before I start I want to find out exactly what it is. The frame/engine numbers match suggesting a 79 TR 77 250cc. However there are a few issues. The lugs for the rear suspension look like they were cut and lowered! The front end may be wrong, check out the yokes, wheel etc. Other than that no spark, but the lump feels good. Would like to fire it up to listen to it. I've a pair of lovely gold wheels for it but is it what it s…

Hi All. I purchased a 2006 TXT Pro 300 5 years ago but never really used it much as I don't know any other trials riders locally. Plus I was into track racing so hadn't the time really. Now I'm rebuilding the bike as it hasn't had much TLC from me or its previous owner by the looks of it. When it's all done I hope to put more effort into learning to ride properly!
