Just saying hello. Just bought my first trials bike as got the bug after having a few goes on some mates bikes. Ended up getting a Bultaco Sherco bike but i am looking for a bit of advice as im not 100% on the age of the bike, is there a way of telling the age off the vin number on the frame or is it down to doing a bit more research? Any info would be great if you could help. Hoping to get out on the bike this weekend to see how i get on finally on my own bike Cheers Ian

Hi, I'm Steve, thanks for your welcome to this site. Last summer I bought a 1976 model TY125 Yamaha, something I'd wanted since I was a kid (I'm 69 right now). It's in good condition but there's a few things need doing as it didn't run for a long time. Can't really use it in the Paris region, apart from the odd run down to the village pub on Sunday, but occasionally we put a couple of bikes in a van and go off trail riding over a weekend. Enough for me, it stops me getting old too quickly ๐

Hi Just bought a Montesa Cota 315R. Not sure yet how far I want to go with it. Realistically I'll probably just use it for the odd day out at Tom's farm and anywhere else I can find at first and then when its road registered will probably use it for green laning. Might like to get good enough to join a club but we will have to see how I get on with it! Been into Moto-x prior to this and have a Husqvarna CR430 (Aka the Swedish Satan) but at the moment I'm not riding it much as I am really struggling to find places in the midlands to ride it as I'm not into big jumps and tabletops etc and the only enduro track I know of is only open on Sunday and I can't do Sundays :-( B…

Hi guys I'm a complete newbie, from Hawkesbay NZ. Got introduced to trials by a friend a few months back and after watching the first event I was convinced. Just bought a 2013 GasGas 250 txt pro, and had a total of 1 hour on it. It is much to good a bike for me, over the years my riding has been road bikes only. Trials is going to be a huge learning curve. Where should I start? Looking forward to learning. Thanks Floyd

Hi everyone...... just a quickie to introduce myself.... first it is a small world!!!! I was browsing TC as you do and was looking for those threads where you guys get all excited and slam each other... but eventually what comes out, for nobby newbies like me, is all the good and bad points. One can then take it further and start looking realtime. In doing this I came upon a thread where "johbnnyboxer" was asking some useful questions back Feb 2004. Is this the Johnnyboxer I know from the GS and Advrider fame..... yes it seems to be.... It is truly a small world here on the tinternet. Well I have retired (early) to Spain.... I have a BMW R1100S (not imported yet... t…

Hi, I live in South Wales and bought a 1998 Gas Gas TX 270 to get me up the mountain to fly my paraglider. I am now having more fun riding the bike than flying my wing, would like to know if there are any trials clubs in south Wales. Thanks Andy

My son Kaelem has just upgraded from the 12.5 to the 36v and loves it. Had a ride with girl with a 36 and the kids had a ball together. Got me thinking any others in Brisbane Australia want to get together for a ride?

hello, My name is Nick, from ohio(obviously). and when i was a child i saw a few trials exhibitions around at a few of the motocross races i attended. now with my career being a mainstay in my life and soon to start a family sadly motocross has come to an end in my life.thus why i am here. i need some advice on what to buy...i am 26 currently about 200 lbs (i always get fat over the winter) give it a bit and ill be about 180 and ready for summer.... and i am 6'0 tall. the only real requirements are that i can readily get parts over here easily, i really dont like having to wait on parts to arrive. i dont know if this matters.....but i dont expect to be all that…

Hello fellow trials rider. My name is James and I am addicted to Trials. I got my first taste while huffing 2 stroke in a buddies garage several months ago and I can't help myself. I went on a binge this weekend at the Trials Training Center and placed 5th in the novice on a Fantic 301. I'm afraid that methedone won't help me with this one, so like most addicts, I'm going to pass this habit along to my family. I have a ten year old daughter and a 14 month old son who will soon be corrupted by the clean air, sunshine and endorphine producing physical exertion that can only be had by doing something as deceptively addictive as pure uncut trials. I went 39 years and nearly…

Hi, surprised my account was still active its been a while ? I decided after 12 years away from trials it was time to get back on a bike. My last trial was in 2006 and sold my Beta back in 2007 due to divorce and a massive change in my life, needed to free up cash. Im in Lincolnshire and used to be in the RAFMSA, now a civvy so joining the North Lincs Club at their next trial which Im planning to ride. With help from my dad we managed to get a 2006 Rev3 270 and still had my riding gear other than boots and helmet, sorted those now..cant wait to ride again ?

Hi guys, First posting, so go easy - please!! Well, it's been 20 years since I last owned and rode a Trial bike, a Fantic 201. I've always loved off roading, had my first twist and go at 8, inspired by my Uncle who is bike crazy (he rides the SSDT etc....). I have finally decided to take the plunge. My life has changed considerably since my last bike, ie wife, 2 kids, different career etc - so I guess that's why I've been out of it for so long! I'm looking for advice please. I have NEVER rode in a Trial, I always rode my bikes for fun, although I did go to trials with my Uncle as a child (Long time ago!). I now live in Saddleworth near Manchester. I've trauled the int…

Just thought i'd say hi. Im live near Glossop and have just bought a TXT 270. Couple of work chums have returned to trials, so I've joined in to show em a few tricks.... Probably frequenting Hawksnest on the Buxton to Leek road, so if you see a complete idiot wobbling around with too older guys with all the gear and no idea, be sure to say hi..... Kieran

Hello. I have a 1992 Beta which has been shedbound for a few years prior to me buying it last year as a project. In typical fashion it has remained in the shed un-finished and I'm looking to get some pointers or help towards where and what I should start on. Since I have had it, the engine has started once and sounded ok. I believe the reason it was damned to the shed in the first place was down to clutch problems. A bit of tinkering with a friend showed there was transmission fluid in the water (or vice versa). I searched a bit but I couldn't find how to begin dismantling let alone what piece to buy. Long story short, I want to completely service this bike to…

Hello all, I have been lurking on here for a while (I may have had an ID at one time but can't remember) and had abandoned trials for a couple of years. Well I am trying to get back to task. I miss trials and trials people. I am not a strong rider but eagerly look forward to getting bikes for me and my oldest. My youngest already has an Oset 16" and learning to ride. We live in Northern Colorado and will ride a few events with RMTA and WMTA in '09 if we can find a couple bikes at a reasonable price.... lol Take care! -Judson
