I have spent all day today putting all.the pipes back on the bike and basically building.it back together, I have completed building.the bike pretty much, I have tried starting the bike bit if im.right in thinking it wont start because it hasn't got a manifold ?? Apart from.that theres fuel and spark and air so shoukd start.lol ... look forward to hereing from you all Re…

  2. Hi, I have what I believe to be a Honda TL180 in bits, does anybody know anything about these bikes in their original condition? I want to restore the bike but am struggling to find information/pictures about the bike. When did Honda produce the TL180's? Is the TL180 engine anything to do with the XL185 engine? Would appreciate any feedback or pics. Thanks

Hello everyone, I'm currently rebuilding a 350 199a and hopefully this forum will prevent me entering therapy for a little while longer. I bought it off e-bay and it looked ok and I was willing to take the risk. I think I've managed to salvage the frame and one bolt! However, the combined expertise of everybody out there may help me to get to the finish. I scrambled in the 70s and 80s but would like to trial the bike when I eventually finish it along with my son who has just got a 125 Gasser. In terms of collections I've got bits everywhere, a GSXR750 Slingshot on the road and I am slowly collecting a 78 RM250 when I come across any bits and pieces. Look forward t…

I've always enjoyed watching trials events, but now I want to get into it. I actually race offroad motorcycles for a living, but I know practicing on a trails bike will help me become a better rider. After the last couple of Endurocross's I know it's what I need to work on. I'm really looking forward to finding out more about it. Thanks! Best Wishes, Destry www.destryabbott.com

Hi all been riding bikes since I was about 11 now 27 now, had sportsbikes since the age of 18 so not done anything offroad for a very long time. I have always loved watching trials vids and it just looks like so much fun seriously considering getting one in the next year I think to be honest I have kind of lost the love of road riding a little. I went up to the motorcycle live show at the start of December and got my lad (4 years old) a little Kuberg start electric trials/motocross bike for Christmas after he had a go at the show and was incredible on it, so it would be great to be able to ride with him. In my teens I was into bmx and I seem to have a freakishly good sens…

Hey guys! So as the title says I am a trials newbie and recently purchased a 1985 TY350 Yamaha trials bike as my first. Anyways, I would like to see if there are any mods to making the ty 350 smoother and maybe a tad bit lighter? I was told this would be a good starter and from a lot of older gentlemen, it is a great bike and it is! I am practicing the basics (also trying to jump the gun and do fancy stuff) and I have to say it's kind of difficult. Bunnyhopping the ty is kind of a pain but I also think im not using my suspension to the fullest. Well with that said, im in the states and there isn't many trials clubs where I am located so I practice around the yard and…

Hi Everyone, I'm currently looking at cheap trials bikes to get into it and learn new skills. Most of my riding is done on road with either my Suzuki DL650 V-Strom or my DR-Z400SM. I also have a set of off-road wheels that I put on the DR-Z when I want to do some off road riding. The off road riding is restricted to a few weekends per year when I load it on the back of a trailer, head off to a camp site and then ride around for a day or two with friends before going home. I've also had the Strom off road in Morocco on some TKC80 (knobbly) tyres. I quickly realised that one needs different skills for off road riding compared to on road riding and while trying to get more i…

Have enjoyed green laning in Cornwall for the past years until put the 81' Montesa 248 Cota in a river. Frame broken !!!!!!!!!. Now have a Montesa Honda Frame to replace the damaged article. Frame Number MH349 -00634. Has anybody got any info on to its production date. Have exhausted my brain cells going down the Jim Sandiford, Honda uk route to no avail. If you have a frame number near mine your date of production/registration would help me to get a Reconstructed Registration number.

Hi Just thought I'd introduce myself. I went to my first trial on Sunday just to see what it was all about. I knew nothing about the sport other than what I had seen on TV. I got talking to a few people who were only to happy to pass on info and explain the rules to me, what a great bunch of people. I'm 42 and was looking for a new hobby so I've now persuaded my wife to make some room in the garage and i'm hunting for a bike. I was wondering if there are any makes of bike that I should steer clear of and also what engine size should I go for? Any advice on how to get started would be apreciated. Thanks Dave

Hi Guys and Girls! My name is Andy and I want to try trials, though good start would be to research on the forums what bike to get, and find a place where I can ride! Someone told me there is nice place next to Brentwood's Secret Nuclear Bunker..need to check it out! I've been riding bikes for years, tried mx and green lanes recently and thought trial bike will improve my overal balance and riding skills. Cheers, Andy

Hi from Perth Scotland I just recently took a notion to give trials a go. I'm on the wrong side of 50 (just !). I had a twin shock Fantic many years ago which was an unreliable disaster and I never used it much as never found anywhere convenient to do so. That makes me a complete no-clue-newbie with only a recollection of how hard it was and without the benefit of growing up with BMX's or doing mountain bike tricks ! Not sure if I am mad , stupid or both I'll hang around and pick up some tips. The idea is to pick up a 2nd hand bike and see if I can get to grips with things. Info on anywhere to practice in the Perth area would be really useful. I have info on…

Hi all, new to the sport and the forum. I might not actually be in the right place as I ride an electric trials bike for my sins ?. I have a history of BMX racing, Downhill mountain bike racing and MTB trials for fun. Originally from God’s own county (Yorkshire for any southerners ?) now living in the flattest place on Earth Newark on Trent.

Just bought my first trials bike, a 1990 Fantic 247 (w/ 305 graphics) converted to twin shock. Another forum member (forgot who) did the work a few years back, I just picked it up from my local trials shop. Converted to run a local air cooled / drum / conventional fork / twin shock class. I'm in the central New York area. Having fun putting around my backyard. Going to attend events next season. Let me know if you're in the area!
